Ethel K. Silva
Ethel K. Silva of Kalaheo, Kaua‘i, peacefully passed away at the Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on Jan. 11, 2011, at the age of 94. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Silva.
She is survived by her sons Richard W. (Laurena”Tito”) Silva of Kalaheo and Leonard H. Yoza of Makakilo; stepsons John (Irene) Silva of Mililani, Walter (Jasmine) Silva of Kailua-Kona, Franklin (Bernice) Silva of Pakala and Antone Roy Silva of Kailua-Kona; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother George Oshiro of Makakilo; and sister Gladys Higa of Pearl City.
Friends may visit with the family from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel. Memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Family requests casual attire.
A celebration of life will be held at The Garden Island Mortuary immediately following the memorial services. All are welcome to join the family and friends to celebrate a life that has touched many and will never be forgotten.
Enos Kaohi
Enos “Enoka” Paku Kaohi of ‘Ele‘ele died Jan. 10, 2011, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 89. Born on Oct. 24, 1921, he was a retired Longshoreman with McCabe Hamilton & Renny.
He was preceded in death by father Joseph Kalua Kaohi Jr.; mother Rachel; siblings Joseph Kaohi, Emily (Paul) Iwata, Rachael (Joseph) Hall, Markham (Sarah) Kaohi, Benjamin Kaohi, Miriam Hosea, Mervin Kaohi, Albert Kaohi; step-daughter Stella Fu Ortiz; and grandson Jaimie Roy Enoka Pajo.
He is survived by wife Minerva Naumu Fu Kaohi; daughters Wilhelmina (Bill) Bogni of California, Darlene (Richard) Kubota of California; step-children David H. (Malia) Fu of Kekaha, Solomon K. (Cynthia) Fu Jr. of Florida, Samuel K. Fu of ‘Ele‘ele, Davette Healani Lopez-Fu of Honolulu and Davene Fu Taylor of Wisconsin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings Dudie Kaohi of Hanapepe, Mercedes Ching of Hanapepe, William (Miyoko) Kaohi of ‘Ele‘ele, Clarence (Lillian) Kaohi of ‘Ele‘ele, Ellsworth (Joan) Kaohi of Big Island, Betty Kaleohano of Hanapepe, Arlene (Edmund) Naholoholo of California and Ronald (Marjorie) Kaohi of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church; memorial service to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m.

Edwin Masuda
Edwin “Eddie” Satoshi Masuda of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on January 17, 2011 at the age of 54. Born in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, on Feb. 27, 1956, he was employed by the County of Kaua‘i as an accounting clerk in the solid waste department.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Masuda.
He is survived by his wife, Jodie Masuda of Lihu‘e; three daughters, Kristal Masuda of Honolulu, Kellie Masuda of California, Kori Masuda of Oregon; father, Satoru Masuda of Lihu‘e; sister, Debbie Harris of Lihu‘e; brother, Eric Masuda of Lihu‘e; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, Jan. 21, at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall with visitation from 4 p.m. and services celebrated at 5 p.m.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Masuda family with arrangements.
