KAPA‘A — Shannon Paleka, her escort Taylor Langstaff, and Matthew Domingcil reigned over the overflow crowd at the New Kapa‘a Town Park stadium, Saturday.
Paleka, a libero for the Warrior wahine volleyball team and the daughter of Calvin and Diane Paleka of Kapa‘a, was presented as the 2010 Kapa‘a Homecoming Queen with Langstaff, the son of Curtis and Kristy Langstaff of Wailua, serving as Paleka’s escort.
Domingcil, the son of Mel and Michelle Domingcil of Kapahi, reigned as the 2010 Homecoming King.
The royalty’s court included Ms. Warrior Alana Andrews and her escort Zach Rodriguez, Ms. Touchdown Takara Kunioka and her escort Torren Kimura, Ms. Victory Kyara Bunao and her escort Kawelo “Spam” Lindsey, Ms. Spirit Kona-Kai Wilson and her escort Calvin Rux.
Class representatives included Leilani Caspillo and Fujio Haraguchi representing the Class of 2011; Christina Pico and Bryson Ancheta representing the juniors; Cortney Higa and Jeremiah Obrero for the Class of 2013; and Kai‘imi Moniz and LeeVi Bethel for the freshmen.
Joanne Watanabe, the Kapa‘a homecoming celebration adviser, said the students were busy getting the school dressed up all week with the highlight being the reunion of more than 200 Kapa‘a alumni touring the school and enjoying a reunion.
That reunion was spearheaded by Art Fujita who had a special section reserved at the Saturday game for the alumni who celebrated after the game with a lu‘au at Smith’s Tropical Paradise in Wailua.
This year’s Kapa‘a theme was “In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the Warriors come to fight.”
The homecoming presentation for Waimea High School will be this Saturday at Hanapepe Stadium.
The junior varsity game is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. with the varsity game kicking off no later than 4:30 p.m.
