WAILUA — Roughly three acres of brush burned late last night in a Kapahi fire, a county news release states.
The fire broke out at around 11 p.m. below the Olohena and Ka‘apuni roads intersection in the vicinity of Kapa‘a Middle School.
Engine 8, Truck 8, Engine 2, Truck 2, Truck 1, and Rescue 3, along with several patrol officers responded to the alarm.
The fire was deemed under control at approximately 12:31 a.m. and fully extinguished at 1:15 a.m.
No one was injured in the fire and no structures were threatened.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
Police closed Olohena Road shortly after the onset of the fire and reopened the road at around 12:31 a.m.
In light of the recent brushfires, fire officials are urging residents and residents to exercise caution.
Some of the fire prevention tips offered by the Kaua’i Fire Department include:
— Don’t throw lighted cigarettes out of a car window.
— Don’t park vehicles on dry grass.
— Never leave a fire unattended.
