David Kaua‘i Sr.
David Kaua‘i Sr. of Waimea died Oct. 9, 2010 at his home at the age of 64. Born Feb. 28, 1946, he was a foreman with Hawaiian Telephone Company.
Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Kaua‘i and sister Ella Sagocio, he is survived by his companion Marilyn Weakley; son David (Yvette) Kaua‘i Jr. of Kapahi; daughters Marlene (Hughes) Kaua‘i Ebinger of Sammamish, Wash., and Elea (Pulani) Kahokuloa of O‘ahu; grandchildren; Siana Ebinger, Srisa Ebinger, Kyra Kaua‘i, Kelly Kaua‘i, Kaoli Kahokuloa, Ka Hula Kahokuloa, Ka Mele Kahokuloa, and Ka Ipo Kahokuloa; hanai children Tina (Will) Duarte and David (Jessica) Gusman; sisters Ellie Kirifi (Polou) of Maui and Pam (Gerry) Alaybilla of Kapa‘a; brother-in-law Wally Sagocio of Hanama‘ulu.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel. The service is 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by burial at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Ben Thomas Largusa of Kilauea died Oct. 3, 2010. He retired from the U.S. Assay office of the Mint in San Francisco, Calif., and was a grandmaster of the Kali Association of America.
He was preceded in death by sons Lance Largusa and Layne Largusa; parents Esteban and Fortunata Largusa; siblings May Rozanable, Bonafacio Largusa, Dominador Largusa, Esteban Largusa, Adrianne Mandap and Roy Mandap.
He is survived by wife Philomena D. Largusa; children Lindsey Largusa, Lois (Henry) Campbell and Jerry (Flora) Largusa; grandchildren Chloe (Rene) Carillo, Laura Largusa, Lindsey (Jerrilee) Largusa, Kalani Largusa, Zachory Largusa, Summer Largusa, Lance Largusa, Philomena (Naylor) Largusa Alejandro, Justin (Jessica) Largusa, Dustin (Bethany) Largusa and Austin Largusa; great-grandchildren John, Jasmin, Adrianna, Taeani, Janessa, Taleah, Tamiah, Damian, Aiden, Darius, Maile, Grace and Stephan; siblings Aurea Laymon, Frank Largusa, Delores Espina, Domingo Largusa, Loretta Goode, Norman Largusa, Elaine Prebula and Bob Mandap.
Services are Saturday, Oct. 16, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a with visitation 8 to 9:45 a.m., and Mass 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe, with a reception to be held at noon at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center.
The family suggests casual attire. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Mortuary.
Errol Lanning Sr.
Errol “Mala” Kealaonapua Lanning Sr. of Hanapepe died Sept. 29, 2010, at the age of 66. Born on July 9, 1944, he retired from Hawaiian Telephone Company, and was a commercial fisherman and boat-builder.
He was preceded in death by parents Carl and Carrie Lanning, sister Sherri Mandez and brother Titus Swain.
He is survived by wife Bonnie (Silva) Labuguen-Lanning; sons: Keala (Kim) Lanning, Michael Lanning, and Troy Lanning; daughter Leah (Eric) Garcia; stepchildren Aaron Labuguen and Janessa Labuguen; grandchildren Eric John (Amber) Garcia, Christy (Josh) Peralta, Malia Garcia, Britnie Lanning, Kaela Lanning, Brandon Lanning, Bridgette Kali-Lanning, Kekoa Lanning, Tai Lanning, Kira Lanning, Duke Alderete-Labuguen; great-grandchildren Kaylie Peralta and Alyssa Garcia; sisters Lorraine I. Lanning, Collette (Teevita) Tovi, Carrie (Alfred) Carvalho, Leslie M. David and Vallory K. Lanning; and brothers Carl H. Lanning, Earl (Lynnette) Lanning and Theodore M. Lanning.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at Port Allen Boat Club from 9 a.m. Services will be at 10:30 a.m.
