Geraldine Ruth Silva of Kalaoa, Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 23, 2010 at the age of 57 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Lihu‘e, she was a home maker.
She is survived by mother Mildred Ruth Silva of Kekaha; sons Harry Soares III of Lawa‘i, Joshua Lucas (Ashley) Soares of Kailua-Kona and Aaron Harrison (Jessica) Soares of Puhi; daughter Chantel Marie (Troy Pa) Soares; brothers Ernest Simon (Brenda) Silva Jr. and Lloyd Douglas (Kaimi Kamaka) Silva, both of Kekaha; sisters Rosalie (Moki) Nitta of Kalaheo, Jasmine “Jazzy” Silva of Kekaha; true friend Dru Enos of Kailua, O‘ahu; four grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary, with visitation at 11 a.m., service at 1 p.m., with cremation to follow. The family requests casual attire. Flowers are welcomed.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Hawai‘i Funeral Home in Hilo.
David Kaua‘i Sr.
David Kaua‘i Sr. of Waimea died Oct. 9, 2010 at his home at the age of 64. Born Feb. 28, 1946, he was a foreman with Hawaiian Telephone Company.
Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Kaua‘i and sister Ella Sagocio, he is survived by his companion Marilyn Weakley; son David (Yvette) Kaua‘i Jr. of Kapahi; daughters Marlene (Hughes) Kaua‘i Ebinger of Sammamish, Wash., and Elea (Pulani) Kahokuloa of O‘ahu; grandchildren; Siana Ebinger, Srisa Ebinger, Kyra Kaua‘i, Kelly Kaua‘i, Kaoli Kahokuloa, Ka Hula Kahokuloa, Ka Mele Kahokuloa, and Ka Ipo Kahokuloa; hanai children Tina (Will) Duarte and David (Jessica) Gusman; sisters Ellie Kirifi (Polou) of Maui and Pam (Gerry) Alaybilla of Kapa‘a; brother-in-law Wally Sagocio of Hanama‘ulu.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel. The service is 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by burial at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
