Nate Herbig and Joseph Cumlat combined for 20 points to lead Papalina-Blue to a 27-20 edge over Lihu‘e, Saturday in the county’s 11 and Under basketball league at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
The game was one of two 11 and Under Boys and two 11 and Under Girls matches played where Herbig finished with a dozen points and Cumlat netted eight points.
Lanakila Wilson led the Lihu‘e effort with 12 points.
Jacob Dykehouse finished with eight points and Sabre Fairbanks added six points to lead Hanakila to a 24-18 win over Team Central who got seven points from Kanei Alisna and six points from Kaone Miguel to round out the boys’ matches.
Brandee Burton finished with nine points to lead Westside to a 19-12 margin over Lihu‘e in the first of two girls’ games.
Alyssa Miyamoto, the power forward for Westside, added four points in the win. Marissa Martinez and Tavehi Tafiti scored five and four points, respectively, for the Lihu‘e effort.
Jasmine Santini and Taegan Keep each bucketed six points to lead the Kaulupono Girls to a 26-16 win over the Kamikaze who got five points from Sandrea Chung.
Papalina-Blue next faces Papalina-White starting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center. Hanakila comes over from Kilauea to match up against the Westside Hornets starting at 7 p.m.
