Yoshie Iwai
Yoshie Iwai of Koloa died Feb. 16, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 86. Born on July 18, 1923, in Makaweli, she retired from airline security at Lihu‘e Airport.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nikichi “Nicky” Iwai; sisters Hatsue Yamakawa and Yukie Shimizu.
She is survived by her sons Michael Iwai and Keith (Sheila) Iwai; daughter Colleen Iwai; sister Mitsue Kimoto; grandchildren Micah (Inga) Aki, Patrick Aki, Stephanie Iwai, Stacy Iwai and Malia Iwai; great-grandchildren Ester Aki and Elizabeth Aki.
A memorial service was held at Koloa Missionary Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Don Kaneshige
Don Mamoru Kaneshige of Lawa‘i died Feb. 19, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 51. Born on April 27, 1958, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a full-time caregiver for his father Shizuo.
He was preceded in death by his mother Chiyoko Kure Kaneshige.
He is survived by his father Shizuo Kaneshige; sister Elayne (Robin) Liu of Honolulu; brother Craig (Michele) Kaneshige of ‘Oma‘o; one niece and many nephews.
Visitation at 9 a.m., service at 10 a.m., on Saturday, March 6, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel.
Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.

Winifred Cummings
Winifred Eva Puanani Kaleiohi Cummings of Anahola died Feb. 16, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 70. She was born on Sept. 5, 1939, in Kalaheo.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ephraim and Evangeline Kaleiohi, and husband Benjamin Cummings Sr.
She is survived by her daughter Terrilynn (Chad Rapozo) Makanani; sons Benjamin (Dawn) Cummings Jr., Ryan (Vanessa) Cummings and Keoki Cummings; grandchildren Kahealani Paik, Chaunci Cummings, Akanahe Rapozo, Kala‘e Rapozo, Jordan Cummings, Raven Cummings and Makenzie Cummings; great-grandchildren Trysen Paik and Tejah Paik; hanai sons Kambie Alapai, Rylan Higa, Ronald Yamashita, Ty Yamashita, Tad Sheldon and Mitchell Pa; brothers Samuel “Buff” (Lois) Kaleiohi, Ellsworth “Opu” (Lani) Kaleiohi, Edward (Amanda) Kaleiohi, Robert Kaleiohi, Joseph (Marlene) Kaleiohi and Theodore “Teddy” Kaleiohi; sisters Evangeline Evans, Evelyn Reis, Phyliss Goias and Daisy Tailfeathers.
Services were held on Monday, March 1.

Rosaline Fernandez
Rosaline Madrid Fernandez of Kapa‘a died Feb. 13, 2010, in Silver Springs, Md., at the age of 84. She was born on June 16, 1925, in Mana.
She is survived by her children Enrique (Vangie) Fernandez, Irenio (Rosalina) Fernandez, Reynaldo (Joycelyn) Fernandez, Rolly (Betty) Fernandez, Rudy (Maida) Fernandez, Rely (Janet) (Donna) Fernandez, Gabriella (Ludivico) Ramiscal, Erlinda (Amor) Sagucio, Glory (Gerardo) Aceret, Yolanda (Julius) Corpuz, Lydia (Nelson) Villanueva and Marlyn (Mike) Stoner; brother Mariano (Rosenda) Madrid; sisters Isabella (Rosendo) Ramelb, Inocenia (Florencio) Tangonan and Carmen (Alfredo) Butac; 46 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Evening prayers will begin March 4, at 6 p.m., at Lydia Villanueva’s residence in Kapa‘a (651-6116). Last night of prayer on Friday, March 12, at 6 p.m., at Yolanda Corpuz’s residence in Kalaheo (212-1160).
Viewing from 9 to 11 a.m., services at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 12, at Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall.
Burial will take place in the Philippines on March 27, next to her belated husband, Francisco Yanos Fernandez.

Ermine “Lei” Kailikini born Jan. 13, 1931, passed away at her home in Hanapepe Valley surrounded by loved ones on Feb. 26, 2010, at age 79.
She will forever live in the hearts of her surviving family — spouse Abraham Kailikini Sr.; children Abraham Kailikini Jr., Pamela (Ernest) Dow, Ruth (Dwayne) Naumu and Cythnia Blair; siblings Edward (Pat) Taniguchi, Nicholas (Nancy) Taniguchi, Gordon Akuna and Beverly Kahalioumi; eight grandchildren, Shelcie (Kevin) Fune, Kevin Kailikini, Travis (Jessica Hoe) Kailkini, Chrystie (Juan) Vasquez, Tiffany Naumu, Trisha Naumu, Garrette Naumu and Krystal Naumu; eight great-grandchildren, Justin and Jordyn Fune, Bronson, Lilinoe and Haaheo Kailikini, Brenden, Aleajah and Taytra Naumu; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Clara Oligo Kaneshiro of Kapa‘a died Feb. 23, 2010, at age 43. Born on June 30, 1966, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, she was employed by New Cannery and Integrity Lock and Key.
She is survived by husband Van; son Kapena; daughter Noelani; parents Orgelano and Bessie Oligo of Kekaha; sisters Betty (Brian) Dabis, Marie (Jim) Aana and Rosaline Oligo of Colorado; brothers Orline (Charlita) Oligo and Ortilano (Karen) Oligo of Colorado; numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at 2 p.m., service at 3 p.m., on Sunday, March 7, at Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e.

Michiko Patsy Higashi of Hanama‘ulu died Feb. 26, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 77. Born on April 21, 1932, in Hawai‘i, she was a retired kitchen helper for Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Ann Harada and Nancy Matsuda; son Boyd Higashi; and brother Funao Inouye.
She is survived by her companion Yoshio Higa; son Harry Higashi Jr.; daughters Lynn (Lee) Ajimura, Gail (Byran) Chun and Karen (Lambert) Alapai; brother Mike (Nora) Inouye; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation at 9 a.m., services at 10 a.m., on Monday, March 8, at Lihu‘e Hongwanji.
