Young players between the ages of 9 and 13 are welcome to attend the morning session which runs from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Teens from age 14 to 18 are scheduled from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and coaches are welcome from 2:30 to 3 p.m.
Registration will take place at the gym prior to the start of the clinic so participants are encouraged to allow for the extra time required for signing in.
Participants should also wear appropriate basketball shoes and clothing for the interactive clinic led by the former University of Hawai‘i Hilo basketball coach.
Joining Yagi is Bill O’Rear, current sports editor of The Hawai‘i Tribune Herald and former NAIA All-American player.
The free seminar will cover the fundamentals of the game of basketball including ball-handling drills, dribbling, passing and team-building concepts.
During his tenure at the UH-Hilo, Yagi developed a successful basketball program, placing Hilo on the map when one of his teams reached the NAIA finals.
Following his retirement, Yagi was inducted into the UH-Hilo Vulcan Hall of Honor.
