Sadako Takeuchi Matsuoka died Sept. 9, 2009, in Gardena, Calif. She was born on Jan. 5, 1916, in Lihu‘e. She is survived by her children Helen (Tad) Kuroda, Calvin (Ellie) Matsuoka, Judy (Bob) Okada and Eric (Phyllis) Matsuoka; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother Mamoru (Yoshiko) Takeuchi; sisters Toneyo Choriki, Mutsue Amaki and Dorothy Tsuyako Clapper; family and friends.
A private memorial service will be held.
Hoanostakio ‘Brother Ray’ Balai
Hoanostakio “Brother Ray” Balai of Kapa‘a died Oct. 8, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 49. Born on Sept. 17, 1960, in Honolulu, he was a warehouse personnel with Rosa’s Supply.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Balai.
He is survived by his mother Karen Bilermo; stepmother Debbie Brede-Balai; brothers Gilbert (Tweety) Balai, Brady Balai, Joseph (Iraina) Balai Martin, Earl (Tina) Balai and Thomas (Rayna) Balai all of Kapa‘a; sisters Antoinette Balai and Marie Mcshayne of O‘ahu; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., service from 11 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kapa‘a Ward. Casual attire is suggested.

Paustino “Tino” Lopez Agustin of Lihu‘e died Oct. 16, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 86. Born on Feb. 7, 1923, in Lihu‘e, he retired from McBryde Sugar Company as a heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by his wife Flordelina; son Timothy (Angela) Agustin of Lihu‘e; daughter Darlene (Lighten) Nagao of Lihu‘e; sister Roselina (Matias) Arizo of Puhi; brother Potenciano “Pat” (Josefina) Agustin of Puhi; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 9:30 a.m., services at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Aloha Assembly of God. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens at 12:30 p.m. Casual attire suggested.

Patrick Tuohy
Patrick Eugene Tuohy of Princeville died Oct. 17, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 64. Born on Feb. 6, 1945, in Battle Creek, Mich., he worked for Wyndham Vacation Ownership.
He was preceded in death by his father Dr. Edward Tuohy, mother Dorothy Tuohy and brother Michael Tuohy.
He is survived by his daughters Heather Devin of Princeville and Erin Freeman of Las Vegas; sister Barbara Ives and five grandchildren.
Service at 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 24, in Princeville near the family home. A celebration will follow. Call 635-0381 for more information.

Pancing “Abe” Lopez of Kaumakani died Oct. 18, 2009, at his home at age 78. Born on July 10, 1931, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a crane operator with Olokele/Gay & Robinson.
He is survived by his wife Estrella Villanueva Lopez; sons Kalae Lopez of Hilo, Bradley Soria of Kaua‘i, Timothy Lopez of Kaumakani, Michael Lopez of Washington and Scott Lopez of Kaumakani; daughters Debbie Lopez of Anahola and Doreena Lopez of Washington; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Stephen Simbre of Hilo, Lorenzo Simbre, James Simbre both of Kaua‘i, Robert Ventura, Richard Simbre, Urbano Simbre Jr. all of O‘ahu, Edward Ventura, Jimsy Lopez of California and Coni Lopez of Florida; sisters Jane Ringor, Beatrice Simbre both of Mililani, Leonita Jeffries, Shirley Simbre-Medeiros both of Kaua‘i, Elizabeth Jardin of Texas and Mary Guerrero of California; aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
