LIHU‘E — The Rotary Club of Kaua‘i has announced its 7th annual Old Koloa Sugar Mill Run, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Anne Knudsen Park. The event will be featuring 5K, 10K and 10-mile runs, as well as a 5K walk, states a press release.
The day begins at 7 a.m. with the 5K walk and 10-mile race. A 7:30 a.m. start is set for the 5K and 10K races. Cost for participation is $25 during the pre-registration period, $30 during late registration and $35 on race day. Pre-registration occurs from now until Oct. 22 at www.active.com. Then late registration will be allowed from Oct. 23-29 on the same Web site.
In-person late registration will be available on Oct. 30, the day before the race, at Kukui Grove shopping center.
Included in the registration fee is a continental breakfast and a choice of a T-shirt or tank top. Breakfast will be served after the races at about 9 a.m.
Awards will also be distributed for the overall male and female top finishers, plus medals given to the winners of each age group.
Since it is Halloween, awards will also be given out for those in costume.
The Rotary Club stated that all of the proceeds from the event will be going toward local scholarships for the Kaua‘i Community College Nursing Program and Technical Program, as well as the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. Those supporting the runners can also support these causes for just a $5 donation that will include the runners’ post-race breakfast.
