Clean three-to-four foot surf groomed by light offshore winds greeted event organizers, Tuesday, prompting the call for the completion of Round 3, states a Surfersvillage release.
“We still have some pretty fun surf on offer this morning so we’ll be getting underway starting at 8 a.m., said Pat O’Connell, Hurley Pro Trestles Contest Director. “The idea is to complete Round 3 so we’ll have one full day remaining, and we can cherry pick the last day we want to finish on. Joel Parkinson, ASP World No. 1, defeated Hawai‘i’s Kai Barger, 12.16-9.93 in Round 2 and is expected to be on the line against event wildcard Rob Machado of the USA.
Machado moved through Round 2 by getting past Australia’s Taj Barrow, 15.16-15.00.
