Thirty Mixed tennis teams in three divisions recently competed at the Po‘ipu Kai tennis courts with proceeds being donated to the American Heart Association.
The teams included adult and junior players from Kaua‘i as well as players from O‘ahu and Oregon participating in the Mixed Doubles competition.
Krystyna Noe said Carolyn Caylor, general manager of Po‘ipu Kai, donated the use of the courts for the tournament and Carolyn Lum, president of the Kaua‘i District Tennis Association, donating tennis balls for use in the tournament.
Brant Fujikami teamed with Kareen Konishi to take the Division A class over the team of Bernard Duarte and Tammie Quinlan.
In the Division B competition, Dave Galleson and Karen Izumigawa topped Roy Yokotake and Shay Orial, and in the Division C games, Dylan Wehrly and Madison Duarte topped Frank Hagan and Ginger Allen.
Noe said this is one of several tournaments planned for the Po‘ipu Kai tennis courts with proceeds to be donated to a charity.
The next tournament is a Men’s and Women’s Doubles tournament scheduled for early May.
