Paul Silva
Paul Philip Silva Sr. of Kalaheo died Feb. 18, 2009, at his residence at age 83. Born Dec. 15, 1925, in Makaweli, he was a fireman, carpenter and later became the fire chief for the Kaua‘i County Fire Department. He retired in 1982.
He was preceded in death by parents Louis and Minnie Silva; brothers William and Louis; son Noland; father- and mother-in-law Abraham and Helena Kalama; sisters-in-law Thelma Aiu, Harriet (Sonny) Holbron and Marjorie Gonsalves; brother-in-law Curly Kalama; great-grandchildren Solomon and Rachel Corpuz.
He is survived by wife Helen K. Silva of Kalaheo; children Paul P. (Lavern) Silva Jr., Paulette (Joe) Grace, Helena (Alfred) Medeiros, Winona (Fenton) Lee, Helene (Orlie) Kimble, Paula Bacio, Maryann (Gabby) Manintin, Nornette (Jeffrey) Gallardo, Egon (Gwendolyn) Silva Sr., Hildegarde (Randal) Miyashiro, Abram Silva (Kelly Mullikin), Xan Silva (Selena Camat) and Ira (Maile) Silva; sister Caroline (Alfred) Hart of Honoka‘a, Hawai‘i; brother Charles Joseph (Lillian) Silva; sisters-in-law Alice Silva of California, Emily Silva of Kalaheo and Hazel Bishaw; brother-in-law Egon (Rose) Kalama; 36 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 9-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo; mass at 11 a.m.
Burial at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual attire is suggested.

Levi Bair
Levi Golden Bair of Kapa‘a died Feb. 20, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 23. He was born Nov. 8, 1985, at Glenwood Springs, Colo.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine F. Bair; two sons, Nicholai Golden Bair and Labron Ha‘aheo Li‘i Thomas Bair; father, Michael Golden Bair; mother, Rachelle Bair; sister, Jasmine Wright; grandparents, Joseph L. and Christine Bair, Richard and Tana Smith; parents-in-law, Vanessa and Douglas Pacheco; hanai father-in-law, Roland Baretto; sister-in-law, Misty Pacheco; brothers-in-law Brandon Pacheco and Brian Wright; and many more family and friends.
Service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at The Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kekaha Ward.
