KAPA‘A — The Bantam division Devils took two wins during the Kaua‘i Inline Hockey Association weekend series at the Kapa‘a rink.
Kawai Peahu netted a hat trick and an assist to help the Devils in its 6-3 win over Team Todd Friday night. Brandon Taylor, Cydney Sitzler and Edward Punua stepped to the forefront, Sunday with two goals apiece in the Devils’ 7-5 win over Da Eh Team for the sweep.
Joining Peahu in the Friday night match, Marcus Punua added two goals with Sitzler adding one goal and Troy Spears finishing with an assist.
Jacob Lewis led Team Todd with two goals and Cascade Mayer had a score for the blue team Friday.
Iki Punua, the Devils’ goalkeeper, finished Friday night with 43 saves on 46 shots. Against Da Eh Team, Sunday, Iki finished with 28 saves on 34 shots.
Joining the scoring leaders, Peahu added a goal and Marcus Punua added an assist in the Sunday win.
Trevor McCracken finished with a hat trick and an assist to lead Da Eh Team scoring with Matthias Davis getting a score and an assist. Luke Boyd finished with a score and Christian Perdue added an assist Sunday.
Marissa Aceret, Da Eh Team’s goalkeeper was 32 saves on 39 shots.
Green Machine 7, Squirt “B” 6 (Friday)
Joshua Lakatos netted a goal at the 1:59 mark, but the Squirt “B” effort fell short by a point.
In addition to Lakatos, Thor Haugland netted two goals, Luke Boyd and Isaac Lakatos each netted a goal with Edward Punua adding an assist in the effort.
Chanel Tremblay and Kalena Harder paced the Green Machine scoring with two nets apiece, including Harder’s icing score that came with 4:02 remaining. Tremblay added an assist in the win with Shannon Sitzler and Kainalu Gandia each adding a score.
Tomas Sanchez, goalkeeping for the Green Machine, finished with 25 saves on 30 saves.
On the other side of the court, Cyd Sitzler was a guest goalkeeper for the Squirt “B” and finished with 18 saves on 24 shots.
Midget “B” Green 5, Midget Blue 3 (Friday)
Trevor McCracken finished with two goals and an assist to lead the Midget “B” Green to its win. Kawai Peahu added two goals and Cydney Sitzler netted one in the win.
Eddie Kane, Mike Goodnight and Mark Wojcinski each netted a goal and Mika Givens finished with an assist for the Midget Blue.
Greg Balmores, tending for the Midget “B” Green, finished with 30 saves on 32 shots while on the other side of the court, Jaime Pablo, the Midget Blue goalie, had 19 saves on 24 shots.
Green Machine 4, Devils 3 (Sunday)
Kainalu Gandia’s goal at the 1:42 mark put the Green Machine up by a digit over the Devils in the Squirt division.
Victor Sanchez finished with two goals and Kalena Harder had one goal with Tomas Sanchez adding two assists in the win.
Thor Haugland finished with a hat trick to lead the Squirt Devils followed by Edward Punua and Joshua Lakatos each netting a score.
Luke Boyd, the Devils’ goalkeeper, was 28 saves on 33 shots while Chanel Tremblay, tending for the Green Machine, ended with 38 saves on 43 shots.
Midget “A” 3, Midget “B” 3 (Sunday)
A Mike Goodnight goal in the final minute of the first half forced a 3-3 stalemate between the Midget “A” and Midget “B,” Sunday.
Ikaika Fuerte came up with a goal in the first half and a goal in the second half to lead the Midget “B” in a comeback effort from a 3-1 halftime deficit.
Keala Davis finished with a goal and an assist for the Midget “B” and Trevor McCracken added an assist.
Greg Balmores, tending for the Midget “B,” finished with nine saves on 10 shots (no stats were available for the second half). Jaime Pablo, goalkeeping for the Midget “A,” finished with 26 saves on 29 shots.
Action continues on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons at the Kaua‘i Inline Hockey Association games with the public invited at no charge to the Kapa‘a rinks located adjacent to the New Kapa‘a Ball Park.
