Takeo Yasuda
Takeo Yasuda of Lihu‘e died Jan. 19, 2009, at his residence at age 92. Born May 8, 1916, in Lihu‘e, he was a retired carpenter with Kaua‘i Builders.
He is survived by wife Michiyo Yasuda; sons James Yasuda (Jeanne) of Honolulu, Lawrence Yasuda (Beverly) of Lihu‘e; daughters Linda Yano (Wilfred) and Joyce Mitsuyoshi (Lance), both of Honolulu; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Lihu‘e Christian Church; service will begin at 3 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers should be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary Ltd.
Rosalie Bettencourt
Rosalie Ferreira Bettencourt died Jan. 23, 2009, in Honolulu, at age 87. Born July 30, 1921, in Hanama‘ulu, she was a retired personnel manager of F.W. Woolworth Lihu‘e.
She is survived by husband George Bettencourt; daughters Julie (Thomas) Bettencourt Dick of Centennial, Colo., Carol (Raymond) Bettencourt Gibo of Mililani, O‘ahu, Mary Ann (Kenzie) Bettencourt Griffin of Morrison, Colo., Donna (Kevin) Bettencourt O’Connor of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; brother Alfred (Yoshie) Ferreira; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. during a celebration of her life on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Immaculate Conception Church; Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Linda Marquez
Linda Castillo Marquez of Waimea died Jan. 23, 2009, at her residence at age 61. Born March 18, 1947, in the Philippines, she worked as research assistant with Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. at Waimea Research Center.
She was preceded in death by husband Lucio P. Marquez and father Victoriano Balmores.
She is survived by friend and caregiver Mariano Caranto; brother Ramon (Juanita) Castillo of Waimea; sisters Agustina Bugaoisan of San Jose, Calif., and Juanita Ignacio of the Philippines; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha; Mass begins at 2:30 p.m. and burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Stanley Gordon Yates II of ‘Ele‘ele died Jan. 24, 2009, at his residence at age 62. Born Dec. 7, 1946, in Colfax, Wash., he was a retired biochemist and Hawaii Hemophilia Foundation president.
He is survived by wife Diane Maier-Yates; brother Jim Yates (Linda) of Seattle, Wash.; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, JAN. 29, at Hanapepe United Church of Christ; service begins at 4 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers should be omitted.

LLoyd Albinio Jr.
LLoyd Pclarin Albinio Jr. of Kapa‘a died on Dec. 11, 2008, at the age of 30.
Born Sept. 9, 1978, in Honolulu, he was a landscaper.
He was preceded in death by grandfather James W. Wilson Sr. and stepfather Bruce G. O’Donnell.
He is survived by father Lloyd Albinio Sr.; mother Joni O’Donnell; son Lloyd Keanu Albinio; daughter Leiani Lynn Albinio; brothers Lloyd N. Albinio, Lloyd J. K. Albinio; maternal grandmother Betty Wilson; and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. during a celebration of life on Saturday, Jan. 31, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kapa‘a.; services to begin at 2:30 p.m. Aloha attire is suggested. The family graciously declines flowers.

Frank “Kinky” Souza of Wailua died Jan. 8, 2009, in Honolulu at age 75. Born Jan. 18, 1933, in Lihu‘e, he was a retired police officer from Kaua‘i County.
He was preceded in death by parents Manuel and Emma Souza; siblings Leilani “Honey” Sanchez, Clarence Souza Sr. and Judy Ryder.
He is survived by wife Emily Souza of Wailua; son Kurt (Terry) Souza of Lihu‘e; daughter Penny (Bully) Balocan of Wailua; Pakiko and Hina of Wailua; sister Gertrude “Sweetie” Johnson of California; brothers Antone “Sonny”(Queenie) Souza of Lihu‘e, Edward “Eddie” (Yvonne) Souza of Kalaheo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. during a celebration of his life on Saturday, Jan. 31, at The Kauai Veterans Center in Lihu‘e; services begin at 10:45 a.m.
