Pascual Dosono
Pascual J. Dosono of Lihu‘e died Jan. 23, 2009, at Garden Isle Health Care at age 97. He was born May 14, 1911, in Barangay Tinaan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
He was preceded in death by wife Saturnina and son Antonio.
He is survived by son Ferdinand (Tanya) of Lihu‘e; daughters Julita Rame of Hanama‘ulu and Edna (Clifford) of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren Jessica, Isaiah, Aaron, Ashton, Darlene, Diane, Schuyler, Edgar and Leah; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, at King’s Chapel in Hanama‘ulu; service begins at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested.
Flowers are being accepted.

Tsuneko Takahashi of Kapa‘a died Jan. 23, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 102. Born in Koloa, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by husband Edward Zenkichi Takahashi and daughters Mildred T. Lee and Jean N. Shintani.
She is survived by son-in-law Lawrence M. Lee; children Edward T. (Gladys) Takahashi, Margaret T. (Kenneth) Kirio and Melvin T. (Karen) Takahashi; sisters F. Imai, H. Okino, G. Harada; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Gregory Sanay
Gregory “Kila Boy” Sanay Jr. of Anahola died Jan. 25, 2009, at age 30. Born Nov. 28, 1978, in Lihu‘e, he was a cook for Road Runner Cafe in Kilauea and a truck driver for Trash Co.
He was preceded in death by parents Gregory and Rosemary Sanay Sr.
He is survived by hanai parents Olinda Higashi of Anahola, Jerry Kaneholani and Noreen Kaneholani of Kapa‘a and Cheryl Kaneholani of Anahola; sisters Shayda (Dominic) Sanay of Anahola, Naomi Kaneholani-Cummings of Kapa‘a, Alicia (Audwin) Lui-Sanay of Kekaha, Elizabeth (Cory) Sanay-Pa‘aoao of Kekaha; brothers Preston Sanay Sr. of Anahola and Gregory (Jessica) Paku of O‘ahu; and numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Olinda Higashi’s home at 3834 Mahuahua Road in Anahola; service to follow at 11 a.m.

June Hanly
June Wood Hanly of Koloa, formerly of Anahola, died Jan. 19, 2009, in Honolulu at age 90. Born June 7, 1918, in Alameda, Calif., she was a homemaker and talented artist.
She was preceded in death by husband John F. Hanly.
She is survived by daughter Janet Rasmussen of Koloa.
Inurnment in California will be private. Williams Funeral Home of O‘ahu helped with arrangements.
Melvin Kneip
Melvin M. Kneip of Kapa‘a died Jan. 25, 2009, in Hawai‘i at age 49. Born March 28, 1959, in Uvalde, Texas, he was a construction worker and mechanic.
He was preceded in death by father Delvin A. Kneip and brother Delvin W. Kneip.
He is survived by daughters April (Randy Jr.) Hicks of Uvalde, Texas, Sarah (Matthew) Graham of Utopia, Texas, and Kristina Kneip of California; son Melvin Jr. of California; mother Pauline Kneip of Camp Wood, Texas; sisters Melba (Leonard) Specht of George West, Texas, Janice (Roger) Balentine of Bulverde, Texas, Wanda Thompson of Junction, Texas; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He will be cremated and returned home to his family in Texas.
Matea Ragasa
Matea Guzman Ragasa of Kilauea died Jan. 17, 2009, at Garden Isle Health Care at age 90. Born Feb. 24, 1918, in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she retired as a laborer with Lanai Plantation.
She is survived by sons Crescencio “Chris” (Dolores) Ragasa of Kilauea and Theodore (Marites) Ragasa of Pearl City; grandchildren Cris Ragasa, Christopher Ragasa, Clyde Ragasa, Darren Ragasa, Eric Ragasa, Rica Ragasa, great-grandson Brice; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. during a celebration of her life on Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Catherine Church; Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Vince “Kutie” Allen Efhan of Keapana died Jan. 25, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 54. Born April 30, 1954, in Lihu‘e, he was an herbicide supervisor with Lihu‘e Sugar Plantation.
He was preceded in death by Maximo and Trinidad Efhan.
He is survived by wife Holiday Efhan of Keapana; sons Vince (Kaulana) Efhan of Kapa‘a, Ikaika (Jobyna Tumbaga) Efhan of Kekaha, Tyler Efhan of Keapana; daughters Kaulana (Michael Bonachita Jr.) Efhan of Hanapepe, Ashley (Keone Pierce) Efhan of Las Vegas; sisters Wanda (Peter) Rodenborn of Maui, Natalie “Tootsie” Carlos (Thomas Newsome) of Wailua Houselots, Karen (Paul) Schroner of Maui; brothers Maximo “Bolo” Efhan of Maui, Clyde “Pinko” (Janell) Efhan of Arizona; grandchildren Mason Huddy, Keone Pierce, Mykah Bonachita, Mahina Pierce; in-laws John and Barbara Cummings of Anahola; and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen K. “Bobbi” Ellis of Lihu‘e died Jan. 17, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 65. Born Sept. 6, 1943, in Lihu‘e, she was a retired executive secretary for Kauai Surf, The Westin Kauai and Kauai Marriott.
She was preceded in death by parents Wayne and Helen Rice Ellis.
She is survived by brothers Wayne “Rick” Ellis, Michael (Stephanie) Ellis, one niece and three nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Lihue Cemetery.

Frank “Kinky” Souza of Wailua died Jan. 8, 2009, in Honolulu at age 75. Born Jan. 18, 1933, in Lihu‘e, he was a retired police officer from Kaua‘i County.
He was preceded in death by parents Manuel and Emma Souza; siblings Leilani “Honey” Sanchez, Clarence Souza Sr. and Judy Ryder.
He is survived by wife Emily Souza of Wailua; son Kurt (Terry) Souza of Lihu‘e; daughter Penny (Bully) Balocan of Wailua; Pakiko and Hina of Wailua; sister Gertrude “Sweetie” Johnson of California; brothers Antone “Sonny” (Queenie) Souza of Lihu‘e, Edward “Eddie” (Yvonne) Souza of Kalaheo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Linda Richardson of Princeville died Jan. 11, 2009, at her residence in Princeville at age 62. Born in Waimanalu, O‘ahu, she worked in catering and was a home sitter.
She was preceded in death by son Royden Villanueva; and brothers Robert Collins, Warren Collins, Johnny Romero, Steven Collins and David Collins.
She is survived by son Troy (Hennie) Villanueva; daughter Michaline (Karl) Kunewa; stepdaughter Jonilyn (Gary) Garza; hanai daughter Ipo Ruaboro; stepsons Jerriett Villanueva, Michael Villanueva; sisters Gloria Romero Bender, Harriett Hoopi‘i; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Wai‘oli Hui‘ia Church.

He is survived by wife Rosemarie Riopta Narito; father Selbistre Narito; sisters Stephanie (Nick) Sites, Selena (David) Kalahiki and Amanda Narito; and brothers Stanley (Abby) Narito and Jason Narito.

She is survived by husband George Bettencourt; daughters Julie (Thomas) Bettencourt Dick of Centennial, Colo., Carol (Raymond) Bettencourt Gibo of Mililani, O‘ahu, Mary Ann (Kenzie) Bettencourt Griffin of Morrison, Colo., Donna (Kevin) Bettencourt O’Connor of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; brother Alfred (Yoshie) Ferreira; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He is survived by wife Michiyo Yasuda; sons James Yasuda (Jeanne) of Honolulu, Lawrence Yasuda (Beverly) of Lihu‘e; daughters Linda Yano (Wilfred) and Joyce Mitsuyoshi (Lance), both of Honolulu; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Lihue Christian Church; service will begin at 3 p.m.
