Bobby Kubota had discount tickets for saimin at Kenny Ishii’s Ono Family Restaurant (they must stay open late when there are games in Kapa‘a), and Bonnie Ellamar had Higashi’s open on Saturday, too. Between the frybread at the Pow Wow and the cheeseburgers at Higashi’s, it was hard to choose.
Art Fujita was doing the coach Gordan Muramaru thing at the Kapa‘a logowear table with Bobby at the Friday night game, and even with the rain, Dick Holtzman came all the way to check out the Raiders.
Austin Oshiro had a special guest as Coach Ramboyan of the Lihu‘e Baseball League Mariners made a special trip back to Kaua‘i to watch him play in the JV game, and then it was off to catch the plane since his O‘ahu kids were playing early Saturday morning. Speaking of logowear, Mel Rapozo was impressed with the lineup of Kapa‘a Eagles logowear. They had the shirts, caps and visors out on display during the Saturday games in Kapa‘a.
Of course, congratulations go out to Dale Jacobs, Dr. Jane Ely and all those Kaua‘i Pow Wow Council people for hosting a great event in Kapa‘a. This weekend it’ll be the Coconut Festival, and Kenny is going to be waiting for you.
