Happy birthday to Sgt. Maj. Bill Barchers. Coach Barchers did an excellent job with the air riflery safety briefing, even touching on what happens when the chicken pops up between targets 10 and 11. And, if you want to know what he had for dinner, you have to ask the Kapa‘a shooters.
Major Victor Aguilar had his hands full juggling between Jr. ROTC cadets helping at the 5th Annual General Atomics science show (Adin Kawate is getting good at shooting those balloons) and getting Menehune shooters to the riflery match. Joanna Andres and Brandi Briones found shade in the van, but it was too hot … it was a good thing Greg Gonsalves had an extra tarp for shade, and thank heaven for the quick tent. Chaelyn Briones came right from setting at the Wednesday night volleyball game, and Britney Inanod was ready for shooting Thursday.
Meanwhile, congratulations to the organizers of the General Atomics show … it’s about the only time we get to see Richard Kuga anymore. Tom Clements was at the volleyball game Wednesday night and planning to take in the show, and hats off to Char Ravelo on that great health and wellness conference Thursday.
And kudos to Norberto Garcia and all those Marine Corps League people for donating the benches to Kapa‘a Middle School. Mary Lardizabal’s students were raring to take them away. With that kind of enthusiasm she generates, no wonder she’s the Teacher of the Year.
OK, whatever you do, don’t forget to vote.
