A four-day program during October intersession for all young people ages 5 to 13 years old will be from 8 a.m. to noon at Island School Oct. 6 through Oct. 9. Tuition per child is $95 and financial assistance is available for qualifying families.
Also available is “Art Zone” for children ages 5 and 6 who are currently enrolled in kindergarten. Their instructor, Dean Wakamoto, has years of experience in working with young children. Participants will explore, experiment and discover the creative process through visual arts.
All other students ages 6 to 13 can attend the following three classes:
Laine Griffith will teach beginning and advanced keyboards. Students can learn and continue the basics of note reading, playing techniques and skills. Tiffany Dodge will teach breakdance and hip hop. The focus will be urban and funk; open to beginners and experienced students. Award winning island artist Penny Nichols will teach students chalk pastel techniques.
