Swim Kaua‘i Aquatics and the Kaua‘i ‘Ohana YMCA will be hosting its annual Kaua‘i Classic Swim Meet at their new facility in Puhi this weekend.
The eagerly anticipated YMCA pool is the first 50-meter Olympic-length pool on island and the Kaua‘i Classic will be the first swim meet hosted at the new facility. The two-day meet will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with a traditional blessing and opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
More than 100 swimmers are expected to participate in the Kaua‘i Classic, with athletes from Pearl Harbor Aquatics, Punahou Aquatics, Hawai‘i Swim Club, and American Renaissance Academy joining the athletes from SKA.
“I’m really excited to see how our SKA kids perform at this meet. They have been working extremely hard, and incorporating more dry-land exercises into their program, so they are getting stronger each day,” Head Coach Billy Brown said in a release.
