Thomas Babauta Sr.
Thomas Santos Babauta Sr. of Kapahi died July 28, 2007, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 70. Born April 8, 1937, in Guam, he was a bartender.
He was preceded in death by son Michael Babauta.
He is survived by wife JoLynn Worthington Babauta of Kapahi; sons Robert Babauta and Thomas (Raquel) Babauta Jr.; grandchildren Amber, Brandasia, Taryn, Brandon, Jesse and Keilana; great-grandsons Raymond and Blake; sisters Cotilde (Wayne) Colton of Florida, Hermina Garrido of California, Hazel (Ron) Hite of Arkansas, Lucille (John) McLean of Guam and Florence (Harold) Daniels of New Mexico; brother Jesus Sablan of Russia; mother-in-law Jennis Christian; and nephews, nieces, sisters and brothers-in-law.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. on July 26, 2008, at St. Catherine’s Church. Casual attire is suggested. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
Scattering of ashes will be private.
Alfredo Ragasa
Alfredo R. Ragasa of San Martin, Calif., died July 17, 2008, in Morgan Hill, Calif., at the age of 76. Born Nov. 8, 1931, in Kekaha, he was an electronic technician.
He was preceded in death by parents Diego and Juana Ragasa, brother Alejandro Rabago, sisters-in-law Lourdes and Linda Rabago, and brother-in-law Frank Nance.
He is survived by wife Elizabeth Ragasa, son Aaron John Ragasa, daughters Cheryle (Ragasa) Hall (husband Gary) and Nadine Marie (Ragasa) Hendry (husband Tim), brother Eldren Rabago, Teo Rabago (wife Jewels), sisters Shirley Nance and Mildred Rabago, and five grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 25, for Rosary at Saint Catherine Catholic Church in Morgan Hill, Calif. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, also at Saint Catherine Catholic Church in Morgan Hill, Calif. Private burial is scheduled for Monday, July 28.
Arrangements are being handled by Johnson Funeral Home.
Crystal Pia
Crystal Fujie Pia of Lihu‘e died July 24, 2008, at home at the age of 46. Born Sept. 20, 1961, in Lihu‘e, she was employed as an assistant manager by AT&T Wireless.
She was preceded in death by father Daniel Yamamoto.
She is survived by husband Jacob Pia; son Joshua Pia of Lihu‘e; daughter Jessie Pia of Hanama‘ulu; mother Fujiko Yamamoto of Hanama‘ulu; mother-in-law Julia Dixon of Hanama‘ulu; sisters Debbie (Glen) Taba of Wailua, Gail (Dwayne) Yamamoto of Kapa‘a, Joy (Roy) Kamanu of Kapa‘a and Joan Yamamoto of Las Vegas; brothers Randal (Aileen) Yamamoto of Wailua, Glen (Rebecca) Yamamoto of Hanama‘ulu, Keith (Janice) Yamamoto of Hanama‘ulu; sisters-in-law Val (Jay) Hirsch of Van Nuys, Calif., Patricia (Cecil) Baliaris of Hanama‘ulu and Faith Vidinha of Puhi; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews cousins and Mililani.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. during a celebration of her life scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, at Kauai Veterans Center in Lihu‘e; services begin at 3 p.m.
Casual attire suggested and flowers are graciously declined.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Pia family with arrangements.
