Joseph Freitas Sr.
Joseph Freitas Sr. of Kalaheo died July 6, 2008, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. Born September 10, 1922, in Lawa‘i, he was a truck driver with McBryde Plantation.
He was preceded in death by son Rodney Freitas and daughter Loretta Freitas Troyer.
He is survived by wife Frances Freitas; sons Michael (Sharon) Freitas and Joey Freitas, both of Kalaheo; daughters Bernie Soto of Hanapepe, Miss Frannie (Dickie) Silva of Kalaheo and Laurie (Wesley) Chow of Kalaheo; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Minnie Soto of ‘Oma‘o; sisters-in-law Margaret Freitas, Minnie Freitas and Emma Freitas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, at Holy Cross Church; Mass at 1:30 p.m. followed by burial at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.

Gene Leebert Schumacher of Lihu‘e died July 4, 2008, at home at the age of 53. He was born June 14, 1955, in Lihu‘e.
He was preceded in death by father Carl W. Schumacher Jr.
He is survived by spouse DeLee Halia Beaudry, mother Ululani J. Schumacher, brothers Carl W. (Annie) Schumacher III and Jeffery H. Schumacher, nephew Kyle Adam Schumacher, numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, at the Lihue Lutheran Church; service at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.

Anjannette Duyanen
Anjannette Paulina Jean Duyanen of Hanama‘ulu died June 26, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 4. She was born Oct. 17, 2003, in Lihu‘e.
She was preceded in death by family members Melchor Duyanen, Argonia Duyanen, Joaquina “Jean” Eulalio, Leoncio Eulalio, Leonardo Tomboc, Johnetta Quel and Stephen Palla-Quel.
She is survived by parents Roldan and Cassity Quel Duyanen; sister Angelica Duyanen; grandparents Pacifico and Clementine Quel, and Antonio and Elvira Duyanen; great-grandparents Louis and Felicidad Quel, Paulina Alambra and Valeris Duyanen; and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, at Immaculate Conception Church; Mass will be at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire is suggested.

Deysha Kawaileia Machado died July 1, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born July 1, 2008.
She is survived by parents Devin and Natasha Machado; grandparents Raynard and Esther Machado, and Philip and Marlene Eliana Jr.; great-grandparents Contrado and Helena Acierto, Lei Machado, Mauro Valvieja and Philip Eliana Sr.; and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa. Services will be at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Lihue Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Tadao Sunada
Tadao Sunada of Hanalei died June 29, 2008, at his residence at the age of 84. Born April 7, 1924, in Ko‘olau, Hawai‘i, he was a taro farmer and truck driver with Kobayashi Construction.
He is survived by sister-in-law Mabel Sunada of Kilauea, and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, at the Kapaa Hongwanji Mission; service at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Joseph Castelo
Joseph Castelo of Kilauea died July 1, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 64. Born Nov. 29, 1943, in Lihu‘e, he was a ramp agent for American Airlines.
He was preceded in death by parents Mr. and Mrs. Felix Castelo; brothers Felix, John, Peter and Donald Castelo; and sisters Rose Lopez and Eleanor Kinney.
He is survived by sisters Felisa Villenueva of Kilauea, Mary (Masa) Yoshimura of Wailua and Charlene (Eddie) Sarita of Hanama‘ulu; brother Edward (Sidra) Castelo of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, at St. Sylvesters Church in Kilauea. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be held on a later date. Casual attire is suggested.

Donald Hiilani Kanahele of Ni‘ihau died on July 4, 2008, on Kaua‘i. Born June 8, 1932, on Ni‘ihau, he was a ranch hand with Niihau Ranch.
He was preceded in death by son Donald Hanelani Kanahele.
He is survived by wife Annie Kanahele; sons Kelmar Hiilani Kanahele of Hilo and Joseph Keoua (MaryAnn) Kanahele of Koloa; daughters Anna (Dana) Kaohelaulii of Makaweli, Ida (Gordon) Kaaumoana of Ni‘ihau, Diane (Oliwa) Kanahele of Kekaha, Annie (George) Kanahele of Ni‘ihau and Ehu (Isaac) Kanahele of Kekaha; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Leonard Kanahele Sr. of Hanapepe; sisters Kaleimomi (Albert) Schmitz and Mikala Woodruff both of Kekaha; and hanai sister Hoonani Shintani of Kekaha.
