The second of three events comprising the Macy’s E-Series presented by Association of Surfing Professionals Hawai‘i will be held at Ala Moana Bowls.
According to a Surfersvillage release, the $10,000 1-star World Qualifying Series event has a nine-day holding period which starts today and runs through July 16.
The competition will take place on the best two days of surf with approximately 96 surfers taking to the water in a quest for WQS ratings points and part of the purse.
T.J. Barron took the first event held at Maili Point in May to win $2,500. Joel Centeio of Makakilo, Flynn Novak and Love Hodel, both of O‘ahu’s North Shore, featured in that final with Barron and the runner-ups headlining the field headed to the Bowls Event No. 2.
This event will wrap up the Men’s portion of the Macy’s E-Series. The third and final event will be a Grade 1 Junior Pro event scheduled for Kuhio Beach in Waikiki on Aug. 18.
ASP Hawai‘i and Macy’s collaborated to produce the Macy’s E-Series to give Hawai‘i’s pro surfing community an opportunity to earn WQS points at home breaks.
The points count towards qualification for the 2008 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing and the 2009 elite World Championship Tour.
The hotline for the daily status of the event is 262-2488.
