After holding for another day, all three Hawai‘i girls in the U.S. Women’s Open at Interlachen missed the cut.
Michelle Wie, Kimberly Kim and Cyd Okino were among the 36 who returned to the course early yesterday morning to finish their second rounds which were postponed Friday due to darkness.
Wie and Kim, who were playing in the same group, had one hole — No. 9 — to go. It was the same hole Wie hit a quintuple-bogey 9 on Thursday. Yesterday, Wie made par, finishing 2-over 75 on the day and 10 over for the tournament.
Kim double bogeyed that hole and finished 6-over 79.
Okino finished 4-over 77.
All three of them carded in 156 for the tournament, missing the cut by six shots. Officials made the cut at 4 over after all players had finished the second round and the third round followed shortly afterward.
Play was suspended for nearly two and a half hours on Friday before play was resumed.
Two hours later, play was called for the day.
