KEALIA — Kristyn Vasconcelles may have been too eager on the first go, but that didn’t stop her from earning All Around Champion Cowgirl honors, Sunday.
Vasconcelles, named Miss Hawai‘i Rodeo in 2007, finished with 36 points in the Kaua‘i All Girl Rodeo Association event at the Kealia Arena, Sunday, edging out Corinna Vasconcelles by six points. Corinna was named the Reserve All Around Cowgirl for the event.
Kristyn, riding Scamper in the 3D Barrels event, was near the bottom of the 20-rider field, but brought the audience to life as she took the lead on a 19.186 go.
