NTBG looks at ‘aina-based education

KALAHEO — The National Tropical Botanical Garden continues its lecture series Thursday with “A Closer Look at ‘Aina-based Education” presented by Hawaiian studies teacher Sabra Kauka.

The free talk is at 6 p.m. in the Harrison Chandler Education Center at NTBG Headquarters, 3530 Papalina Road, Kalaheo.

Kauka will discuss how Newell’s shearwater and wedge-tailed shearwater colonies at Ninini and Lawa‘i-kai can be incorporated into teaching the importance of caring for the earth, the sea and all living creatures.
