Keoki’s Paradise picked up two first place finishes in the 21st annual Kaua‘i Business Canoe Race Sunday.
In the annual event which feature crews from local businesses forming paddling teams, Keoki’s Paradise teams topped two Novice Men division with a 1:39:36 paddle and followed that win with a first place in the Open Women division, topping Honsador Lumber on a 1:58:84 run. Honsador finished at 2:07:27.
The Keoki’s Paradise Novice Men’s crew did not have an easy run as the crew from the Hilton Kaua‘i Resort were on their tail and finished just five seconds short for a 1:39:31 paddle. The crew from the Kmart store filled in third at 1:43:46.
Duke’s Canoe Club, finishing with one first and two second places, topped the Novice Women division on a 1:49:61 run followed by the Hilton Kaua‘i Resort team at 2:05:36. Wal-Mart filled in the third place berth in that division on a 2:06:01 paddle.
With two second places tucked under its belt, the Hilton Kaua‘i Resort broke into the winner’s circle with a 1:49:47 run in the Novice Mix division. That run was almost four minutes better than second place finisher Hilton Kaua‘i Resort which stopped the clock at 1:53:64. Keoki’s Paradise filled in third place at 1:55:28.
The team from Home Depot pocketed the top trophy in the Open Mix division on a 1:40:26 run followed by Duke’s Canoe Club stopping the clock at 1:42:59 for second place. The Kmart team filled in third place with a paddle of 1:51:52.
Tire Warehouse picked up the top slot in the Open Men division with a 1:37:78 run followed by Koga Engineering stopping the clock at 1:40:63.
