Kapa‘a 13, Nanakuli 1 – Jocelyn Enrique hit two home runs and Leilani Laranio had one in Kapa‘a High School’s 14-1 win over Nanakuli High School yesterday in the DataHouse/Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Softball Championships at the Central O‘ahu Regional Park.
Freshman starting pitcher Melina Obar pitched five innings and allowed four hits in the win, which ended early due to the mercy rule. Sheila Argayosa was Nanakuli’s losing pitcher.
Nanakuli’s only run came from Kamil Keawe in the first inning.
Kori Kimura finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Enrique was also 3-for-3 with 4 RBI and three runs scored. Laranio was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Warriors now advance to the quarterfinals and will play No. 2 Farrington High School at 7 p.m. today on Field 2.
Top-ranked Kaua‘i High School will play Waialua High School at 5 p.m. today at CORP’s Field 3.
