HONOLULU — The University of Hawai‘i at Manoa athletics department has been named the recipient of the 2007 “Best E-Marketing Award” by the American Marketing Association Hawai‘i Chapter for its internet marketing initiatives, including its e-newsletter (H-Mail), Web site (HawaiiAthletics.com), and digital online ticket system. UH was also nominated for “Marketer of the Year” and finished second in that category.
“UH demonstrated ingenuity and creativity by using effective and cost-efficient Internet strategies to market to its fans and achieve a higher level of customer service,” Bob Peterson, president of AMA Hawai‘i, said in a release. “With the high cost of advertising and promoting multiple sporting events during the year, they developed effective ways to reach their fans and provide easier access to information and tickets.”
AMA Hawai‘i annually honors businesses, organizations and individuals for their outstanding marketing achievements implemented during the calendar year. The awards for Marketer of the Year, Best Non-Profit Marketing, Best E-Marketing, and Best Marketing of a New Product or Service will be presented at a luncheon on Thursday, May 29, at the Hawai‘i Convention Center.
