Fumiyo S. Yamamoto
Fumiyo S. Yamamoto of Waimea passed away on March 15, 2008, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 97. Born on July 25, 1910, in Hanama‘ulu, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by sons Akimutsu (Harriet) Yamamoto of California and Gary K. Yamamoto of Waimea; daughter Elaine H. (Al) Takayama of Honolulu; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Shigeru Sora of Wahiawa; sister Ruth (Atsushi) Watanabe of Lihu‘e; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were private.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary Ltd.
Toshikatsu “Thomas” Yamamoto
Toshikatsu “Thomas” Yamamoto of Koloa passed away on March 20, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. He was a plantation worker with Lihu‘e Plantation.
He is survived by son Keith (Raynette) Yamamoto of Koloa; daughter Paula Yamamoto of Koloa; six grandchildren; brother George (Marion) Yamamoto of Honolulu; sisters Amy Yamamoto of California, Mariko Koyanaji of Honolulu, Masako (Fred) Kimura of Honolulu and Shizuko Morita of ‘Ele‘ele; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel; service begins at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.

John “Jack” Carr
John “Jack” Carr of Lihu‘e died at home on March 20, 2008, at the age of 81. He was born on Oct. 26, 1926, in Boston, Mass., and was the owner of Nevada Glass Service and Jack’s Glass & Screen here on Kaua‘i.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne Carr of Lihu‘e; three children James Michael Carr of California, Sharon Marie Stephens of Florida, Wendy Ann Porter of California; sister Patricia Ann (Pete) Penner of California; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his faithful and loving companion, Sandy.
A celebration of his life will begin with visitation at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, at Lihue Missionary Church with services at 5 p.m. The family requests casual or aloha attire and graciously declines flowers.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the Carr family with arrangements.
