The best female surfers in the world are gearing up for the Roxy Pro Gold Coast this weekend in Coolangatta, Australia.
Defending Roxy Pro Champion Chelsea Hedges, however, will not compete as she prepares for the birth of her first child.
Reigning women’s world champion Stephanie Gil-more, Sofia Mulanovich and Layne Beachly are scheduled to compete, as well as Hawai‘i’s Melanie Bartels and Megan Abubo.
Young sensation Carissa Moore of O‘ahu, last year’s Roxy Pro Gold Coast runner-up, has also been invited to the trials on Friday at Snapper Rocks.
The winner of the trials earns a berth in the Roxy Pro Gold Coast competition.
