Greg Temple
Gregory Temple died Nov 25, 2007, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born and raised in Malibu and having grown up on Dog Beach, Greg also lived for many years on Kaua‘i. Lifelong surfer/skateboarder, expert cook, generous to a fault and a devoted father, Greg is survived by his daughter Jessica Escobar, sister Diana and mother Vicki. Memorial and scattering of ashes will be in January 2008.
Sheila Anderson
Sheila Mae Reyes Anderson of Everett, Wash., died at the Sunrise View Convalescent Hospital on Nov. 21, 2007, at the age of 68.
She met Marine Corps Sergeant John K. Reyes and became a military bride stationed in Washington, California and Honolulu, finally settling on Kaua‘i. They later, with a group of good friends Dan Lapala, Yvonne Pa, Minnie Paik and others, helped to pioneer the Princeville Nursery. They later began the Ho‘onani Nursery, which is now called the Puhi Nursery.
She is survived by daughters Nadine (Llewelyn “Blondie”) Woodward of Anahola, Natalie (Jabez “Kalani”) Kaimina‘au‘ao of Hanapepe, Cheryl (Larry) Corneal of Lihu‘e, sons Alan Reyes and John Reyes, both of Anahola; sisters Carol Fleiman, Marilyn Wadena, and Diane Denton of Everett, brothers Norman Fleck of Coulee City and David Fleck of Everett; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Bonney-Watson, Parker chapel in Burien, Wash., with a small family gathering in Everett on Dec. 28, where her ashes will be scattered in her beloved Washington. A get-together for Sheila will be held at a later date on Kaua‘i. Friends may call Nadine at 346-6928 or Babes, 346-9872.
Kun Cha U
Kun Cha U, born Feb. 25, 1943, died on Dec. 12, 2007, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, at the age of 64. She was born in Gumma Ken, Japan, to the late U Sang Duk and Kim Tae Yun, and grew up in Taegu, Korea.
She is survived by daughters Iris (Brandon) Erickson of Kalaheo, Kimberly (Jeremy) Foster of Lihu‘e, and Suzy (Markeal) Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren, lifelong friend and companion Richard Fukushima; brothers Young Bok (Ae Cha) U of Kapa‘a, Yong Su (Mi Soon) U of Virginia; sisters Bok Sun Woo of Korea, Song Ja Yoo of Las Vegas, Nev., and Soon Gu (Jay) Gu of Virginia. She was preceded in death by Yong Ki U of Kapa‘a. Her grandchildren are Kaitlynn, Hailey, Breannah, Mikah, Savannah, Shaelynn, Ashlynn, & Alexander.
Kun Cha worked at the Coco Palms Resort Hotel, and later ventured out to start the first Korean restaurant in Lihu‘e, known as Kun Ja’s Delicatessen Restaurant. Kun Cha’s hard work, diligence and pleasing the palates of the community through her cooking gave her great joy and satisfaction. Her Korean food with some local flavor was enjoyed by many of her customers. Her passion was cooking, meeting new people and traveling. Upon retiring she spent her time traveling to Korea, the Mainland, and Hawai‘i.
Services will be at Borthwick Mortuary in Koloa on Friday, Dec. 21. Viewing starts at 3 p.m., followed by services at 5 p.m. Services held by Pastor Matt Higa from New Hope Kauai at Kapa‘a. Casual attire requested by the family.
Lois Ann Larsen
Lois Ann Larsen of Hanama‘ulu died Dec. 4, 2007, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 85.
Born Aug. 12, 1922, in New York, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harry John Larsen; daughter Judy (Roger) Peckenpaugh; son Grant Gribble; granddaughter Heather (Adam) Phelps and grandson Matthew Dylan Peckenpaugh.
Friends may visit with the family at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa, where Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and asks that flowers be omitted. Donations my be made to Kauai Humane Society, 3-825 Kaumualii Hwy., Lihu‘e.
Jamieson Cosier
Jamieson Wayne K. Hatori Cosier, of Kalaheo, died at Queen’s Medical Center on Dec. 6, 2007, at the age of 24.
Born in Lihu‘e, on Dec. 11, 1982, he is survived by his parents Bruce and Lori Cosier; daughter Shelbri-Ann Cosier; fiancé Dayla Yamamoto; sisters Ann-Janette (Alika) Toledo of Hilo and Bricille (Marquis Dawkins) Cosier of Kalaheo; nephews Trysen Cosier, Isaiah, Kobe and Kamron Toledo of Hilo; niece Torianna Dawkins; maternal grandmother Josephine Hazel Soto; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother Anna Jennie Manoi and maternal grandfather John Soto. Jay’s passion was soccer, he played the sport from the age of 6. He traveled to Brazil in his teens and played for the Sea Warriors of Hawaii Pacific University. He was a member of the Westside Afterburner’s team, also the Kauai Men’s Soccer Association.
Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo.
Mass will be at 4 p.m. Cremation to follow. Aloha attire is suggested.

Robert ‘Bobby’ Pai
Robert “Bobby” Joseph Lono’hiilei Enoka Pai died on Dec. 4, 2007, in Sun City, Ariz., after a long battle with cancer at the age of 71.
Born in Portland, Ore., on Aug. 11, 1936, to Antone and Helena Pai, he was raised in Honolulu, HI.
He is survived by his wife Linda Pai and five daughters: Leilani Correa of Honolulu; Kuulei Lara Pai of Los Altos, Calif.; Leimomi Souza of Ceres, Calif.; Leinaala Pai Haynie of El Paso, Texas; and Robin Lili‘uokulani Pai-Smith of Las Vegas, Nev.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Bobby served 21 years as a U.S. Marine, including two-tours of duty in the Vietnam War. After retiring from the military, he was a long-haul, cross country truck driver and holds the record for driving over 5-million accident- and ticket-free miles in all 50 states. He was lovingly known throughout the country as the “Happy Hawaiian” on CB radio.
Service will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park, 42-425 Kamehameha Pkwy., Kane‘ohe, followed by a dinner reception hosted by his daughters. Military graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Aloha attire for both ceremonies is requested. Call (808) 233-4400 for more information.

Carmen Vicente
Carmen Labrador Vicente, of ‘Ele‘ele, died Dec. 14, 2007, at her home at the age of 80.
Born Sept. 19, 1927, in Kilauea, she was a homemaker, and volunteered to teach sewing to the senior citizens on the Westside of Kaua‘i.
She is survived by her husband Justo Vicente of ‘Ele‘ele; daughters Nina (Romeo) Ramelb of ‘Oma‘o, Lynn (Nick) Abramo of Honolulu; son Kenneth (Lisa) Vicente of California; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers Fabian Guerrero of California; Christian Labrador of Lihu‘e, Jose Labrador of Lihu‘e, and Felipe Labrador of Kapa‘a; sisters Fabiana Guerrero of California, Cenona Eliseo Acob of Kapa‘a. Ines (Andres) Lazara of Kapa‘a; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Father Nap. Burial to follow at Lihue Cemetery.
