Dave Bukoski said he was “distraught” over the cancellation of the Lights on Rice Parade, but it was the right decision. Dave was with his ‘ohana at the 6th annual Easter Seals Gingerbread Festival Saturday. Jonell Kaohelaulii got to mix in some fun with her job as she and her niece Tua Tafua got to work on a gingerbread house, and Shane Tokita came out of retirement to help since it was such a fun event.

Kenny Ishii was shopping with his children, and almost everywhere, the talk was about no Lights on Rice Parade (the mayor said it’s been postponed until next year). Kenny is ready to start planning the 2008 parade since he has all the energy built up from the one that didn’t float.

Kaitlyn Santos’ dad said the Hawaiian Telcom float was ready, but it was OK since they had a nice teardown party instead, and for those looking for holiday decorations, check out Wilcox Hospital’s lobby.

Ilima Fernandez was supposed to be in the parade, but ended up joining Larry Rivera for the Friday night show at Kukui Grove.

Gayle Konishi is gearing up for her Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School craft fair this Friday and Saturday, and Wendi Russell has a lot more of those green aromatic ornaments that have a lot of UH standout names on a helmet. She’ll be at the CKMS fair, too. You ‘gotta see this one to believe it.

OK, ‘nuff said … time to check out Dean Nakayama’s gingerbread cookies — the line was too long Saturday!
