Kyara Bunao knocked in two goals and Shanley Yoshimoto rocketed one in the net in the first half Saturday.
That effort locked in the victory for the Rock Stars as the orange-jersied Stars held off a strong comeback effort from the Meow for a 3-1 edge, and the championship for the Girls Under 19 division at the Wil Veeck soccer tournament at Vidinha Stadium.
Changing goalkeepers and resting its players, the Stars were able to keep the Meow concerted offense at bay until Jamie Kimura found the net on the third goalie change by the Stars.
That was the sole score for the purple shirts coached by former Kaua‘i High School goalkeeper Tamalyn Hasegawa.
This was the first time the two teams from the Eastside met. There was no contest for the Boys Under 19 division.
