Boys and girls between the ages of 10 through 15 years old interested in playing soccer are invited to the National Soccer Academy clinic/tryouts this Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the North Vidinha soccer fields.
According to a flier promoting the event, a parents meeting to discuss NSA programs will take place at 5 p.m., also at the North Vidinha fields.
The clinic is open to boys born between 1993 through 1998, and girls born between 1992 through 1998.
Cost to attend the clinic is $25 and organizers ask that participants wear their NSA T-Shirt. For those who don’t have an NSA T-Shirt, they can be purchased at the clinic for $12 each.
Online registration and payment can be done by visiting the NSA Web site at www.nationalsocceracademy.org, or by sending payment and completed medical release form to Kevin Devitt, 371 Laaukea Place, Kapaa, HI 96746.
For 2007-2008, NSA is selecting serious players to compete in major International and National tournaments. Players attending these tournaments will gain International Competition experience, learn to play the NSA style while making friends from different countries and gain a fun soccer experience, the flier states.
Since 1992, NSA has selected, trained and led more than 1500 people on tour to compete in major International tournaments in Scandinavia, South America and the United States.
Kaua‘i soccer players have been part of this program through participation in the European tours that have been led by Devitt during the past several years.
The promotional flier states that to the credit of NSA players and coaches, after training and learning the NSA Style, the philosophy and the NSA Way, players have consistently stepped up to the competition as evidenced by the many championships they have earned.
For more information, visit the NSA Web site at www.nationalsocceracademy.org, or call Devitt at 823-9805, or 645-1987.

NEW YORK — Marion Jones gave back the five medals she won at the Sydney Olympics and agreed to forfeit all other results dating back to Sept. 1, 2000, further punishment for her admission that she was a drug cheat.
The three gold medals and two bronzes were turned over by her attorneys in Austin, Texas. They are en route to U.S. Olympic Committee headquarters in Colorado Springs, and the USOC will return them to the International Olympic Committee.
It will be up to the IOC to decide what to do with Jones’ medals. She won golds in the 100 meters, 200 meters and the 1,600 relay, and bronzes in the 400 relay and long jump.
