Nalda Delaine Crain
Nalda Delaine Crain of Princeville died May 13, 2007, at Masada, Israel, at the age of 53.
Born April 2, 1954, in Oakland, Calif., she graduated in 1977 with a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California and soon after became a Certified Public Accountant. A 1986 graduate of Hastings Law School in San Francisco, Nalda passed the California Bar Exam the same year.
She traveled extensively and moved to Kaua‘i in 2001 working as an accountant with Pahio Resorts, Inc. She was often spotted walking her two dogs, Big Boy and Tuxedo, along the path in Princeville.
She is survived by longtime love and companion Hector Cole, sister Deatra J. Crain, brother Jacob Gardner, aunt Reneva England, and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held in Oakland, Calif., May 29, with internment following.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 20, 5 p.m., at North Shore Christian Church, located on the grounds of Kauai Christian Academy, 4000 Lighthouse Road, Kilauea.

Carl Marcus of Kilauea died Aug. 6, 2007, at Wilcox Hospital.
Carl was a familiar figure on the North Shore. He was often seen, full grey beard under his mesh pith helmet, cruising the shoulder of the highway on his moped.
He was born in 1939 in Cordova, Alaska, and moved to Hawai‘i with his parents in 1954 (living in both states when they were territories).
He served in the U.S. Army in Japan in the late ‘50s and moved to Kaua‘i from Oregon in December 1982. He was an avid horticulturist and published author, whose friends say he will be missed.
Friends will gather at Kalihiwai Beach Saturday, Aug. 18, around noon. Donations in memory of Carl may be made to Kaua‘i Hospice, 4457 Pahee St., Lihu‘e, HI 96766.
Namiko Tanabe Yoshida
Namiko Tanabe Yoshida of Kapa‘a, died July 30, 2007, at Hawaii Medical Center-West at the age of 96.
Born June 28, 1911, in Lihu‘e, she is survived by sons Hugh Y. (Patricia) Yoshida and Reuben (Florence) Yoshida; sister Tsutayo Saito of Kaua‘i; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private services were held. Arrangements were handled by Mili-lani Memorial Park & Mortuary.
James Donald Quisenberry
James D. “Jim” Quisenberry of Urbana, Ill., and a part-time Kaua‘i resident, died on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at the age of 72.
Born June 8, 1935, in Boone County, Ind., he was a longtime educator, professor, author and business leader, earning numerous local and international awards for his contributions to education.
Kaua‘i was Jim’s and his wife Nancy’s favorite vacation location. For many years they spent three months of more out of the year on Kaua‘i, where he served on the Association of Apartment Owners at the Cliffs Resort.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Florence Quisenberry, wife Nancy Lou Quisenberry, and son Curt Franklin Quisenberry.
He is survived by his son James P. Quisenberry, daughter-in-law Jill M. Quisenberry; one grandson; brother Morris Quisenberry of Indianapolis; three sisters, Joy Bayless of Crawfordsville, Ind., Nancy Moore of Waynetown, Ind., and Janet Quisenberry of Crawfordsville, Ind.
A memorial service will be held today at Renner-Wilkoff chapel in Ubana. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to the Urbana Rotary Club Charities or the James D. and Nancy L Qisenberry Scholarship through the Southern Illinois University Foundation.
