Nalda Delaine Crain
Nalda Delaine Crain of Princeville died May 13, 2007, at Masada, Israel, at the age of 53.
Born April 2, 1954, in Oakland, Calif., she graduated in 1977 with a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California and soon after became a Certified Public Accountant. A 1986 graduate of Hastings Law School in San Francisco, she passed the California Bar Exam the same year.
She traveled extensively and moved to Kaua‘i in 2001 working as an accountant with PAHIO Resorts, Inc. She was often spotted walking her two dogs, Big Boy and Tuxedo, along the path in Princeville.
She is survived by longtime love and companion Hector Cole, sister Deatra J. Crain, brother Jacob Gardner, aunt Reneva England, and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held in Oakland, Calif., May 29, with internment following.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 20, 5 p.m., at North Shore Christian Church, located on the grounds of Kauai Christian Academy, 4000 Lighthouse Road, Kilauea.
Noryne Akiko Teraoka
Noryne Akiko Teraoka of Hawi and formerly of Lihu‘e and Aiea, O‘ahu, died Aug. 9, 2007, at Queen’s Medical Center at the age of 43.
Born Sept. 12, 1963, in Honolulu, she was a recruiter for the state Department of Education.
She is survived by husband Daryl N. Teraoka of Hawi; sons Bryce Teraoka, Waryn Teraoka and Bryant Teraoka, all of Hawi; parents Richard and Iris Fujimoto of Pearl City, O‘ahu; brother Galen (Jennifer) Fujimoto of Pearl City, O‘ahu; sister Candace (Dean) Nakamoto of Kane‘ohe, O‘ahu; and maternal grandmother Natsue Minami of Pearl City, O‘ahu.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary; memorial service at 6 p.m. Visitation again from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Kohala Assembly of God on the Big Island; memorial service at 10 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.
Michael Rubio Sr.
Michael Rubio Sr., of Kapa‘a, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Aug. 9, 2007, at the age of 61.
Born in Aiea on July 10, 1946, he was a sergeant with the Department of Public Safety at Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center.
Preceded in death by his mother Rosalia Rubio, he is survived by his wife Janice Padre Rubio, daughters Melissa (Bob Carey) Rubio, Michelle (Darren) Lizama, and son Michael Jr. (Penni Larsen) Rubio; granddaughters Tiffany Bonilla, Kamala Lizama, and Kaila Lizama; grandsons Mark Bonilla, Trever Bonilla, and Mason Silva; his father Caesar B. Rubio; and his sisters Shirley (Bernard) Machado and Ella (Calvin) Lai; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25, at St. Catherine Catholic Church with visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Rubio family with the arrangements.
