Alepia O. Motilla of Puhi, died March 25, 2007, at Queen’s Hospital at the age of 80.
Born Jan. 12, 1927, in the Philippines, she was a field worker for Lihu‘e Plantation.
He is survived by her husband Alejandro Sabiane Motilla of Puhi; children Cresencia (Cecilio) Sagucio of Hanama‘ulu, Placido (Remedios) Motilla-Milano of Italy, Francisco (Remegia) Motilla-Bangar of La Union, Clarito (Florida) Motilla of Puhi, and Eddie (FelyRose) Motilla of Puhi; brother Alejandro (Rosita) Orpia-Bangar of La Union; sisters-in-law Urbana Macayan of Las Vegas, Yrinea Motilla of Hanama‘ulu; Guanita Motilla, and Catalina Motilla of Puhi; brother-in-law Florencio (Marcelina) Motilla of La Union; 14 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonardo and Ana Orpia; sons Eusebio and Ariston Motilla; daughters Adela and Liza Motilla; brother Catalino Orpia, sisters Sinfrosa Vedana and Juanita Orpia; and brother-in-law Fermin Motilla.
family from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, at Immaculate Conception Church, where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Father Bill. Burial to follow at Lihue Cemetery.

Jimena “Pining” Dacuycuy Hernando of Hanama‘ulu died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 12, 2007, at the age of 76.
Born in Laoag City, Philippines, on April 17, 1930, she retired as a cook with Wailua Marina Restaurant.
She is survived by daughter Genevieve (Arnold) Cruz of Hanama‘ulu, brothers Benjamin Dacuycuy, Samuel Dacuycuy and Alfredo Dacuycuy, all of the Philippines; many grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 21, at The Way of Salvation Church in Kapa‘a with visitation from 1:30 p.m. and services celebrated at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Lihue Cemetery.

Betty Miyakado
Betty Ayako Takata Miyakado of Kapa‘a died on April 6, 2007, at the age of 77. She was born in Honolulu on July 4, 1929.
She is survived by brother Wally Takata of California; caregivers Michael and Aida Manguchei of Kapa‘a; and uncle, aunts and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon. Inurnment to follow.

Rufino Espina
Rufino “Roy” “Noi” Espina, loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa, of Kapa‘a died peacefully at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 7, 2007, at the age of 77.
Born in Koloa on Oct. 9, 1929, he was a decorated Korean War veteran and Purple Heart recipient. During his younger days he was employed at Lockheed, Pearl Harbor Naval Yard, then moved to Kaua‘i and worked with various contractors with Pacific Missile Range Facility until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Dolores (Largusa) Espina; daughters Roxanne (Peter) Hiltsley, Priscilla (Dennis Mitchell) Espina; son Edward (Peggy Salvador) Espina; and daughter-in-law Sharon Espina; siblings Christina Caniete, Sancho “Sandy” (Mary) Espina, Rose (Tony) Lasit, and Pete Espina; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by two sons, Michael S. Espina and Gregory X. Espina; sister Louisa Taniyo and brother Albert Espina.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 21, at St. Catherine Church with visitation from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.

Anna F. Fune
Anna F. Fune of Kalaheo, died April 3, 2007, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 92.
Born March 29, 1915, in Lawa‘i, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by sons Richard “Stanley” (Pat) Fune and James Ronald (Theresa) Fune, and daughter Cathline Broyles; sister Beatrice Martin; 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo, where Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. by Father Nap.
Burial will follow at St. Raphael’s Church Cemetery.

Haruko Abe
Haruko Abe of Lihue, Kauai, passed away at Straub Clinic and Hospital on April 7, 2007, at the age of 88.
Born in Lihu‘e, on Jan. 30, 1919, she was a retired clerk for Hale Kauai.
She is survived by her sister, Lillian Akiko Inoshita Lumacad. Funeral service are private.
