Johnathan Katsuo Hirata of Wailua died at Kalihiwai on Jan. 17, 2007, at the age of 30.
Born in Honolulu on Jan. 24, 1976, he was a laborer with the State of Hawai‘i, Department of Transportation.
He is survived by his wife Krystal Morinaka-Hirata of Wailua; daughter Ciara Morinaka of Wailua; parents, Donna Hirata (William Bigay Jr.) of Puhi; sister Nicole Hirata (Aaron Nako) of O‘ahu; niece Kiare Nako; parents-in-law, Stanford and Cynthia Morinaka of Wailua Homesteads; maternal grandparents, Mamoru and Lily Hirata of Kaimuki, O‘ahu; grandmother Yuriye Lily Morinaka of Hanama‘ulu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Lihue Ward). Service will be held from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. followed by burial at the Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested. Condolences may be sent to 275 Aina Pua Place, Kapa‘a, HI 96746.

David Frank “Chowie” Duarte of Kalaheo, died at home on Jan. 20, 2007, at the age of 77.
Born in Waimea on June 25, 1929, he was a utility clerk with Gay and Robinson Inc.
He is survived by his wife Flora Gomes Duarte; son Douglas (Roberta) Duarte of Cloverdale, Calif.; two daughters, Sylvia Duarte of Cloverdale, Calif. and Daphne “Deedee” (Vance) Tanaka of ‘Ele‘ele; two grandchildren, Robyn (Spencer) Weber of Rock Springs, Wyo. and Kiana Miyako Tanaka of ‘Ele‘ele; two brothers, George (Sarah) Duarte of Kaneohe, O‘ahu and Steven (Diana) Duarte of Makaweli; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Interment will be at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.
