Geraldine “Jerre” Schaefer
Jerre Schaefer died at her home in Waimea on Nov. 21, 2006, at the age of 71.
Born on Oct. 21, 1935, in San Mateo, Calif., she worked as the accountant for Jack Wada Electronics for 18 years.
A talented artist, Jerre painted and crafted for many years, then decided to make a dollhouse, furniture, accessories and all. Thrilled with her accomplishment but unable to keep it (it was huge for her tiny apartment) she decided to make another, then another, each time making them smaller and smaller until she had mastered the art on a 1/2’ scale. Her dollhouses are considered treasured keepsakes by their owners.
Jerre is survived by her daughter Kimberley (Kaipo) Schaefer; daughter Allison Zamiska (Phillip) Polhe; son Chad Schaefer; and two grandchildren.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Monday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. at Maha‘ulepu. For more information, call 338-1451. Condolences may be sent to P.O. Box 751, Waimea, HI 96796.

Tibor Matyas Polhe died at his home in Cleveland, on Nov. 18, 2006, from a heart attack at the age of 60.
Born Jan. 22, 1946, in Kunbaja, Hungary, he migrated to the U.S. with his family in 1950 and officially become a U.S. citizen in 1963.
Affectionately known to all as “T,” Tibor loved living on the Westside. He attended grade school at St. Patrick’s and graduated from West High School in 1965. After taking several odd jobs, he found his niche when he began working as a plumbing apprentice. He continued with his work and education, received a Master Plumbers’ license and briefly owned T-N-T Plumbing. When he became unable to work as a plumber, he worked with the Salvation Army on their “Harbor Lights” project — a hugely successful project to combat homelessness.
He is survived by his twin sister, Julie Polhe (Charles) Farago of Bayfield, Colo.; daughter Kristina Polhe of Cleveland; and son Phillip (Allison) Polhe of Waimea.
