Shigemitsu Takata
Shigemitsu Takata of Waimea died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Nov. 26, 2006, at the age of 85.
Born in Honoka’a, Hawai‘i on March 27, 1921, he was the owner/operator of Takata Service Station.
He is survived by his wife Doris N. Takata; two daughters, Lois (Damon) Struble of Oregon and Mavis (Wayne A.) Souza of ‘Oma‘o; five grandchildren; Wendy, Stephanie, Stacie, Daniel and Sheldon; brother, Daniel Takata of O‘ahu; sister, Yaeko Inouye of O‘ahu.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Waimea Honpa Hongwanji; service officiated by Rev. Hashimoto will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Katsumi Oshiro
Katsumi Roy Oshiro of Kapa‘a died on Nov. 22, 2006, at the age of 80.
Born in O‘ahu on March 16, 1926, he worked at Shioi Construction as a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife Toshie Oshiro; sons Roy (Amelia) Oshiro of Alabama, Dan (Michele) Oshiro of Nevada, Guy (Sandra) Oshiro of San Diego, Calif.; step-brother Roy (Hiroda) Toguchi of Honolulu; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Kapaa Jodo Mission with visitation with family at 2 p.m. and services beginning at 3 p.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
