Paced by the offensive performance of Jessilyn Aki and Leinaala McCabe, the Gee’s Angels opened with a 32-10 win over the Waimea Minihunes before getting past Kalalea 27-16 later in the week.
The county of Kaua‘i, Recreation Agency Winter Basketball League for girls 14 and Under opened Monday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center as Leinaala McCabe paced the Angels with 10 points in their win over Waimea.
Sister Reggie McCabe followed with 6 points. Lauren Claypoole and Aki each sank 4 points in the win.
Bristy Agu topped the Minihunes’ effort with 5 points followed by Sanida Pahulehua netting three.
Erin Connelly finished with a game-high 14 points to lead Kaulupono to a 39-27 showing over the Lihu‘e Kamakazes.
Following Connelly’s lead, Jayme Jacinto and BreeAnn Cox-Abuan chipped in 8 and 6 points, respectively.
Kylie Barba led the Kamakazes with 8 points followed by Pili Chung and Makana Fujimoto contributing 4 points apiece in the Monday nightcap.
Kayla Perez and Janessa Grady each finished with 14 points to ignite the Lihu‘e Heat to a 53-32 burn over the Uptown Jammers Wednesday night.
Following their pace, Jennifer Grady stepped up for 10 points and Kelsey Cadiente added 8 marks.
Gabrielle Salud and Angelica Ganitano paced the Jammers with 10 points apiece. Jasmine Mariano added 6 points in the effort.
Mahea Hanie-Grace and Aki topped the Angels’ win in Wednesday’s nightcap. Each Angel dropped 7 points with Maile Dreier adding 5 and Leinaala McCabe finishing with four marks.
Shalyn Tupou and Kaira Kupihea netted 4 points each to pace Kalalea. Lynsi Nakamura and Kira Nakamura each finished with three.
