Arrest, then release, in Lihu‘e death

Detectives with the Kaua‘i Police Department arrested a 30-year-old Puhi man for manslaughter Saturday morning in connection with the death of a 25-year-old Lihu‘e man.

He was later released pending further investigation.

The grandmother of the Lihu‘e man found him unresponsive at his residence Friday afternoon and called 911 to report the emergency, said county spokeswoman Mary Daubert.

The Lihu‘e man was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
