Kauai Christian Academy hosts its sixth annual fall festival this Tuesday at the school from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“Because we’re Christians and we don’t believe in Halloween, this is a nice alternative function to hold in a family friendly, Christian environment,” said Cynthia Vernola of the KCA. “We have about 15 to 20 booths of games and face-painting and there’ll be baskets of candy for the kids to take. It doesn’t matter if the kids win or lose at the games, every kid gets something.”
The festival serves as a fund-raiser for items the school needs, specifically for sand to fill the school’s new playground area. Parents and volunteers fix all the food and set up all the booths.
“Out of all our fund-raisers, this is one of the best ones. The local families and parents of the school cook the food and some families with horses bring their horses for the kids to ride and everything,” Vernola said. “I’ll be doing a banana bread.”
Local businesses such as Kayak Kauai, the Princeville Ranch and Otsuka’s donated rentals, adventure packages and furniture accessories for a silent auction.
“We have so many things for the silent auction,” said Anna Howard. “Literally we’re in the 50s when it comes to businesses that donated for this. There’ll definitely be a lot of things to bid on.”
The KCA serves dinner for attendees from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dinner is $7.
