Howell Hawila Kaleohano Sr. died at his residence in Hanapepe Valley on Sept. 3, 2005, at the age of 71.
He was preceded in death by parents, Howard Hawila Kaleohano and Mabel Ulumahiehie (Kahale) Kaleohano; sister Mary Ann (Masichi) Shimazu and grand-daughter, Daysia Pomaikai Manaia Chee-Lee.
Born on July 15, 1934, in Puuwai, Ni’ihau, he was a supervisor for Gay and Robinson Sugar Co. for 44 years and retired from the United States Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Kaohi) Kaleohano; son, Howell K. (Debbie) Kaleohano of Hanapepe; daughters, Terilynn K. (Steven) Denson of Hau’ula, Ranette K. (Roger) Kilpatrick of Hanapepe, Sheldeen K. (Gary) Haleamau of Las Vegas, Darnelle K. Johnson of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward (Margaret) Kahale and Henry Kahale; four sisters, Lily Kahale Mina, Elena Kanahele, Mabel (Lawrence) Kaneapua and Emmaline (Alfred) Garcia of Port Lavaca, Texas.
Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9-10 a.m. with service to start at 10:30 a.m. at Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church; officiated by Kahu Nani Hill and Kahu Richard Chun.
Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
