The crowd was ready, the clouds had cleared and guest visitor, Anne Banning, tossed in the first ball. The rematch between CJ’s and Bali Hai was off to a fast start with Ronnie Tongg scoring for CJ’s in the first minute of play.
It didn’t take long for Ricardo Villegas to tie up the game. Even with Scott Sims trying to block his mallet and riding him off, Ricardo popped the ball followed by a straight shot through the pylons. With a lot of midfield challenging, Ricardo moved in again with a beautiful back hand shot, scoring and ending chukker #1, 2-1 Bali Hai.
Social member, Sherry Brewer bowled in the ball.
CJ’s Ronnie Tongg, with forward offensive players Krista Hawley and Scott clearing the way, hit the first goal for chukker #2. Good defensive work kept the ball in play until at the 30-second bell when Krista made a dash through the defense clearing the pylons and bringing the half-time score 3-2 CJ’s.
CJ’s owner, Jeff Powers tossed in the ball for Chukker #3 in which only two goals were made. Scott Sims, our veterinarian, kept ahead of the ball on every play coming away with two goals ending the chukker 5-2 CJ’s.
In chukker #4, Ronnie Tongg and son Rustan, the number 3 players on each team whose job it is to pivot between offense and defense, each scored. The match ended with CJ’s turning the table on Bali Hai wining 6-3.
Team members playing for CJ’s were Krista Hawley, Scott Simms and Ronnie Tongg. Bali Hai sponsored Peter Cameron, Ricardo Villegas and Rustan Tongg.
