Virginia M. Carr of Lihu‘e, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on July 11, 2005, at the age of 84.
Born in Warwick, Rhode Island on Oct. 12, 1920, she was a self-employed accountant.
She is survived by daughter, Rhoda Coutu of Lihu‘e, six grand-children, David Coutu, Donald (Maureen) Coutu, Dennis (Terri) Coutu, Douglas Coutu all of Rhode Island, Darcy Foster of Kapa‘a and Dee-Ann (Tony) Defosse of Rhode Island; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, at the Lihue United Church. Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Shane Taniguchi
Shane Nicholas Hulu Taniguchi of Makaweli, died July 10, 2005, at Straub Hospital at the age of 38.
Born Jan. 5, 1967, in Waimea, he was with the United States Air Force.
He is survived by sons, Sheldon Taniguchi, and Shendon Matthew Taniguchi; parents, Kazu and Aurelia Taniguchi; sisters, Shalamae (Mac) Layaoen, Melodie (Aurel) Domingo, and Stacie (Brandon) Caires; seven nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary, Sunday, July 17, visitation is at 5:30 p.m. and the prayer service at 7 p.m. On Monday, July 18, visitation is at 9 a.m. and the funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Veteran Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Manuel Nunes
Manuel Nunes of Kapa‘a died at home on July 12, 2005, at the age of 97.
He was born on Oct. 7, 1907, in Kapa‘a, and retired as a truck driver with the County of Kauai.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Sarah; four sons, Leslie Nunes of Kapa‘a, Mervyn (Juanita) Nunes of California, Wendell (Jo) Nunes of Kapa‘a, Bert Nunes of Kapa‘a, daughter; Beverly Palama of Kalaheo, 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
Services were private.
Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Botta Thomas
Botta Thomas of Hanama‘ulu, died July 12, 2005, at his home at the age of 71.
Born March 31, 1934, in the Marshall Islands, he was a warehouse worker.
He is survived by his wife: Sepe Thomas; 11 children: Samson Thomas, Aries Thomas, Roslinda Maugh, Stanley Thomas, Robert Thomas, Botten Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Wanda Thomas, Adlina Yoneyama, Keyrose Thomas, and Anna Thomas; and numerous grandchildren.
Friends may visit wth the family from 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., on Wednesday, July 20, at Koloa Union Church, where services will be celebrated at 3 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
