As many as 50 participants competed in the Pitch, Hit, and Run Competition hosted by the Kaua‘i Police Activities League on April 30 at the Kapa‘a Ballpark.
First-place winners include: Mitchel Alves-Peralto (overall champ, age 7-8), Alves-Peralto (pitch, age 7-8), La‘akea Iseri-Carvalho (pitch, age 7-8), Mike Booth (hit, age 7-8), Alves-Peralto (run, age 7-8), Austin Thronas (overall champ, age 9-10), Duane Wakuta (pitch, age 9-10), Rashaan Kuhaulua (hit, 9-10), Austin Thronas (run, 9-10), Jacob Rapozo (overall champ, 11-12), Tanner Shigeta, Rylan Labugen (pitch, 11-12), BJ Aiwohi (hit, 11-12), Calvin Rux (run, 11-12), Jacob Planas (overall champ, pitch, hit, 13-14), Jaime Shigeta (run, 13-14).
The winners will now compete in the sectional competition, to be held May 21 in Maui.
Sectional All-Around Champions become eligible to qualify for the Team Championship, to be held at the San Diego Padres Stadium.
Pitch, Hit, and Run is a baseball skills competition that allows youngsters to showcase their talents in pitching, hitting, and running with scores determined by individual performances in each skills event.
