Two girls soccer teams netted the biggest profits at the 3 on 3 basketball tournament at Kapa‘a Gym.
The monies will fund their trip to the upcoming Kirk Banks Soccer Tournament on O‘ahu from March 24-27.
The first place team was Kupono Warriors: Rich Colipano, Kainoa Pezario, Daniel Simao, Keone Kaneholani and Wayne Rivera.
They won a $100 gift certificate donated by The Shack.
Second place went to “2005”: Kamo’i Refamonte, Chad Rita, Jason Kashiwabara, Kaupili Akau and Aukai Dennis.
They won a cooler donated by Lihu‘e Ace Hardware filled with water, soda, juice & Gatorade donated by Longs Kapa‘a, Foodland Kapa‘a, Safeway, Cost U Less and TJ’s Gift Shop. The team also pocketed a $25 gift certificate donated by City Liquor.
The winner of the Free Throw Contest and the Three Point Contest was former Kapa‘a High School basketball standout and current assistant coach Seth Yamamoto. He won a lunch for two and a lunch for four both donated by Bubba Burger in Kapa‘a.
The tournament committee would like send out a big mahalo to their previously mentioned sponsors plus Home Depot and Walmart; the guys who came out to play; and as always to The Garden Island Newspaper and the KONG Radio group for helping them notify the community.
The soccer teams heading up to O‘ahu are as follows:
U12 Girls Team: Anolani Coon, Chauncie Garcia-Brown, Christen Wilson, Codi-Rei Pezario, Jamie Kimura, Jessica Lactaotao, Kyara Bunao, Larissa Crain; Laurie Anne Tamayo, Shealynn Sugai, Takara Kunioka and Tonia Gamarra.
U14 Girls Team: Cassandra Bunao, Christina Albano, Dakota Barnett, Elizabeth La Madrid, Hana Imai, Keila Johnson, Kirsten McCracken, Kyah Schneider, Kyla Dill, Lyndsey Crain, Racquel Figueroa, Seri Niimi-Burch, Tatiana Alvarado, Tiani Saia and Zariana Fernandez.
