Nicolas M. Nacion Sr.
Nicolas M. Nacion Sr., of ‘Ele‘ele Nani, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Dec. 2, 2004, at the age of 93.
Born in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Dec. 6, 1910, he was a retired irrigation supervisor with McBryde Plantation.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; son, Nick Nacion Jr.; three daughters, Vicki Valenciano, Jayne Brown and Shandra Macatee; sister, Eduarda Pudiquet of the Philippines; four grandchildren and one great grandson.
Friends may visit with the family from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, at Holy Cross Catholic church in Kalaheo; Mass officiated by Father Nap will begin at 10 a.m. Private burial to follow.

Wayne William Fix
Wayne William Fix of Lihu‘e, died Dec. 2, 2004, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at the age of 85.
Born June 22, 1919, in Coyle, Okla., he was a carpenter, cabinet maker and talented woodworker.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice, of Lihu‘e. He is also survived by four daughters: Sharon McHenry of Kapa‘a, Marti (Mike) McHenry of Lihu‘e, Joanne (Terry) Frewer of West Vancouver, Canada and Liane (Brad) Carter of Lihu‘e; and one son: Timothy (Dianne) Fix of Truckee, Calif.; nine grandchildren: Maureen McHenry, Colleen (McHenry) Kavanagh, Shannon (McHenry) St. John, Beau Miller, Leyla Pua Nani Frewer, Michael Fix, Christine (Fix) Chow, Eileen (Fix) Lyon, Wayne Carter and eight great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to both Hale Kupuna and Hospice for the loving care Wayne received. Hospice memorials are welcomed.
Private services will be held. Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Stanford Tsuchiyama
Stanford Takeo Tsuchiyama of Lihu‘e, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 28, 2004 at the age of 71.
Born in Lihu‘e, on June 3, 1933, he was retired from the state of Hawai‘i.
He is survived by his wife, Violet; three sons, Scot Tsuchiyama of Lihu‘e, Alan (Joy) Tsuchiyama of Honolulu, Oahu and Mark Tsuchiyama of Lana‘i; daughter, Iris (Dirk) Togashi of Hilo; two grandchildren; sister, Ellen Hughes; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Service were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Esther Teraoka
Esther Rose Ka‘auwai Teraoka, of Wailua, died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on Nov. 26, 2004, at the age of 79.
Born Feb. 19, 1925, in Kapa‘a, she was a great golfer and retired as a Tour Guide with Gray Lines Tours.
Preceded in death by her husband, George Tadao Teraoka, she is survived by a son, Ross; one grandson; brothers, John Ka‘auwai, William Ka‘auwai, Kenneth Ka‘auwai, James Ka‘auwai and Bert Ka‘auwai; sisters, Elizabeth Costa, Henrietta Gonsalves, Maureen Seagrove, Annette Ka‘auwai and Linda Iwamoto.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, at Kapaa First Hawaiian Church; service at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Rikito ‘Chick’ Yamamoto
Rikito “Chick” Yamamoto of Koloa, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 6, 2004, at the age of 88.
Born in Koloa, on April 5, 1916, he was a maintenance technician with the Federal Aviation Administration.
He is survived by his wife, Harue; two sons, Gary Yamamoto of Lihu‘e and Alan Yamamoto of Koloa; daughter, Laverne (David) Wada of Lihu‘e; six grandchildren; two brothers, Mitsuo Yamamoto and Masao (Joan) Yamamoto; two sisters, Satsue Ono of Koloa and Dorothy (Takashi) Yamada of Honolulu; two brothers-in-law, Raymond Oda of Honolulu and Jukichi Hirata of Koloa; two sisters-in-law, May Yamamoto of Lihu‘e and Tomiko Yamamoto of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, at Koloa Union Church; service at 3 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

Stephen “Duke” Mahelona
Stephen Lani “Duke” Mahelona was born on O‘ahu on Jan. 12, 1950. He was 54 years old when he died at his home in Anahola on Nov. 20, 2004. Stephen was a long-time resident of Hanapepe, but for the last four years, had made his home in Anahola.
Stephen was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Louis and Rosella (Char) Mahelona and his beloved older brother Ronald (Evelyn) Mahelona.
Surviving Stephen is his lifetime soulmate and common-law wife of 24 years, Melanie Roose. Also surviving Stephen are Louis (Janice) Mahelona, Vivian (Jerry) Almeida, Gwen (Glen) Bargamento, Charles “Charlie” (Karen) Mahelona, Barbara (Peter-deceased) Leota, Meriel (Clay) Yonahara, John (Sue) Mahelona, and Allen Mahelona, sister—in-law Gloria Cataluna, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stephen was a very loving, forgiving and spiritual man. He was dearly loved, and will be missed by many.
A very casual “Farewell” to Stephen and visitation with the family will be at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary from 10 a.m. till noon on Friday, Dec. 10.
An informal service will follow from noon till 2 p.m.

James H. O’Donnell
James H. O’Donnell of Po‘ipu, died peacefully, Nov. 26, in Los Altos, Calif., at the age of 85.
Born in Oakland, Calif., he retired to Kaua‘i in 1980, and loved his time here and the many special friends he made.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bette of Po‘ipu. He is also survived by three daughters: Jean (Robb) Craig, Gayle O’Donnell, Carol O’Donnell; five grandchildren, Natalia and Sean Craig, Alanna Reynolds, Kim and Kelly Raible and four great grandchildren.
